Mau Loa Poem
We stand on the sandy shore
Our hands and hearts we withhold
Breathe in the unspoken
The words I yearn to be told
Some search for shells and stars
We search for answers to appear
Like silhouettes against the moonlight
Dispelling all our fears
He is eternal summer
Warm smile, glowing skin
The clear, green waters
Of his eyes invite me in
I am swallowed in the swell
Of the ocean in his heart
Drowning in my own desire
The current pulls me apart
He has his eyes on the stars
I have my eyes on my whole world
The warmth of the spirit lingers
A breath of truth escapes, barely heard
Kiss me with your warm wet lips
Still salty from the sea
And whisper again above the waves
How deep your love runs for me
We live our mortal lives away
Stars watching from above
Tracing names in the sand
In hope of eternal love
For now we share our secret
The shoreless dreams we both can see
Whispers carried on the wind
You, me and the sea

Mau Loa Poem
Searching for the hidden answers
My fingers numbly trace each shape
Of every rock, nook and cranny
From this ledge I find no escape
My spirit cries for help from Thee
Tenuous grip but strong in hope
I tremble, falling to my knees
Upon this jagged, slippery slope
Remove from me this obstacle
My feeble faith is not enough
I’ve tried dear Lord to overcome
The steep temptations of this bluff
Intentions set, I know the path
Yet my deeds still will not comply
Each step tests and crumbles the edge
As I plead, eyes turned toward the sky
This climb, it seems impossible
That Thou sent me to overcome
But I know atop this mountain
The view will be a holy one
Thy hands replace my wearied ones
The strength I find is not my own
A foothold found, Thou lifts me up
From beneath this tomb of stone
Hand in hand Thou leads me higher
Til on the summits peak we stand
I never could have reached it Lord
Except by Thy great, loving hand

Mau Loa Poem
Like summer sun upon the water
So intense I shield my eyes
You and me, perfect reflections
Souls found from forgotten lives
No words can truly tell
The beauty of your face
Or recreate the feeling
Of such a warm and peaceful place
You invigorate my soul
Like ocean air upon the breeze
I am a child in the sand
You always bring me to my knees
Like tumbling waves upon the coast
Captivate my wandering eyes
The rhythm of your movement
Can lure and hypnotize
Your body is an ocean
Strong with rippling waves
But underneath is calm
Quiet, deep and full of caves
I’m in wonder of your secrets
Your current pulls me inside
I could get lost in these caverns
Drowning in your rising tide
Then nighttime falls upon you
Cool, soft sands and gleaming light
I yearn to never leave your shores
I become a part of you tonight
As I gaze upon my blanket
Of the night sky and the sea
I find you are my North Star
Pointing me toward who I will be
Travelers come to feel a part
Of your heavenly presence for a time
But I yearn to be the only one
That can truly call you mine

Mau Loa Poem
The surface of the sea calms after the storm
Revealing the wreckage.
I search for the perfect words
That will breathe life back into you, into us,
Resurrecting our love.
I fear they don’t exist.
How could any singular phrase or plea
Encompass and do justice to the complexity of who we are
And what we could have been.
Yet still, in desperation, a whisper escapes my lips.
Forced out into the open
By my last remnant of hope.
“Choose me, love me.”
Words so desperate and small,
But heavy laden with desire and pain.
Like me they are untethered and drifting
Without you as their destination.
A flare sent into the night
Surrounded by a blanket of darkness as far as the eye can see.
They slip away, fading into blackness once more.
What was this brief moment of clarity flashed before me
Lighting my world
Only to leave me yet again surrendered to the shadows?
No help is coming.
The horizon holds no sign of hope.
I thought the death of us
Could be swallowed up in the victory of His promises.
Rescued.
But what is life without death?
How can we know joy without passing through sorrow?
Life and death are one
Even as the river and the ocean.
As are you and I.
So I let our love sink into this watery grave,
Submitting to the current pulling us under.
Like so many treasures and lives claimed before ours,
So now is our love,
Lost at sea.

Mau Loa Poem
My feet carry me so quickly
Running, wind whipping in my hair
Don’t look back, escape it now
Breathe in the unpolluted air
Safe far from what was once my home
Under the skies of blue and pink
They turn to gold, then to purple
As the daylight begins to sink
All the beauty I once saw
Disappears before my eyes
Remaining are my thoughts and hope
Just me, myself and I
Voices whisper, calling me
They are beckoning my soul
Discover what lies beyond
My truth unfurls like a scroll
Sails billow on the winds of hope
This journey must be done alone
Eyes fixed on the horizon line
I travel into the unknown
Finally free to discover
What the past hasn’t allowed
Eyes stay forward, on this new world
What has been lost will now be found

Mau Loa Poem
Your glances are shooting stars
Captivating and fleeting
Falling into my atmosphere
And burning in my heart
I know what you’re thinking
And you know what I’m feeling
A whisper of intimacy
Promising more to come
Your gaze takes me captive
Lost in it’s soft sincerity
Eyes clear as day
Yet deep as the ocean
A window to your beautiful soul
I fall through that opening
I am lost
I am found
By strong, tender arms
Holding me close
Home at last
Hidden from the world
We both escape, unseen
I long for this moment
To never end
As it fades
Into dark

Mau Loa Poem
I have thought my entire life
I needed magnificent views
And vast landscapes
To satisfy my soul
The truth is it doesn’t matter
Where I am because
The beauty surrounding me
Isn’t what sustains my spirit
The sun lifts once more
Above the sea
I close my eyes and fall
In love with how I remember you
I sit there in the dark
Beneath the stars
In the galaxy of my heart
Finally discovered, by you
I feel so much
Because you are so much
More than you will ever know
And I am unable to pour it out
So instead I kiss your soul
Slow and tender
With words rising and falling
To the rhythm of my heartbeat
Now I know and desire
No other taste
Than the one lingering
From your sweet spirit
It sustains me
Breathes life into my soul
A warm sliver of light
Spilling across my once cold world

Mau Loa Poem
O man of God whom I love
I consecrate my heart to thee
And to His plan and His will
I have yet to know or see
Sealed up and written
My heart cannot be undone
As is my love for God
My love for you is one
Yet I consecrate it daily
As you both have asked of me
A mite of great worth
A sacrifice the world can’t see
For distance means so little
When someone means so much
Your eternal happiness
Entices far more than your touch
Silent prayers like a cloak
Surround you with their love
Strengthen and protect him
Guide his purpose from above
For love is patient in devotion
So I’ll keep your pathway clear
Of myself and my desires
So you can always keep Him near
Follow after righteousness
And know you’re not alone
My love will always be with you
Even though it goes unshown

Mau Loa Poem
Tortured and a prisoner
To demons of my past
One man knocked and entered
Healed and free at last
One man knew and loved me
Despite who I was then
He saw divine potential
Found and reached through him
One man led by example
To choose the better part
It cannot be taken from me
It’s in my soul, my mind, my heart
One man returns to me
A light breaking like the dawn
Piercing dark clouds of grief
Perfect love still lives on
One man says touch me not
As I weep at his feet
Ascension cometh first
Before an embrace so sweet
To one man my life’s devoted
The savior of my soul
Beloved by you eternally
A broken heart made whole

Mau Loa Poem
I can’t move, I can’t breathe
I’m holding on so tight
Tears warm with grief
Paint my pillow every night
The thought of you brings peace
Laced with unrelenting pain
I drink this bitter cup
From which I can’t refrain
How many times can a heart
Crack before it shatters
Shards of broken hope
Pierce the night as they scatter
To love so many times
Only to receive in return
Scars of unrequited agony
And a lesson never truly learned
