Unrequited Agony

I can’t move, I can’t breathe I’m holding on so tight Tears warm with grief Paint my pillow every night The thought of you brings peace Laced with unrelenting pain I drink this bitter cup From which I can’t refrain How many times can a heart Crack before it shatters Shards of broken hope Pierce the night as they scatter To love so many times Only to receive in return Scars of unrequited agony And a lesson never truly learned
