Epitaph of a Songbird

I am young but old
I watch youths fall in love and ...
my heart swells with joy-
and hurt
for I know I shall never feel such feelings again.

From under the depths I watch as the world passes before me-
My time had stopped.
My voice lost in my thoughts
I no longer sing.

Yet the wind carries my songs from a distant past
And I listened...
I listened to the voice of a Songbird

That is no more.

A Stargazer's Journal

I am aware
How the stars shine in her eyes,
Like pools of black waters for a mage to scry.
How the wind blows softly when-
She, in her graceful darkness
Raised her arms to the heavens
Casting the clouds aside
To let my eyes gaze in awe of the starry night.

I am aware
Of the depth of her heart
How her darkness consumes her light and
Her light consumes her dark.
How in her very being, I see
The Universe in all its glory.

I am aware
Of her tired eyes
As she sat in solitude
Singing the songs I have only heard in dreams.
How we float in an unending sea of darkness
'We'--balls of energy, darkness and light.
How we live on
Though our bodies have died.

I am aware
Of her heart
That felt none of the world
How in her last days
She had smiled for she had lived.
And once again with starry eyes
She turned to me with a jaded smile:
"I am no longer Human".

My consciousness,
Entangled with every being in existence
Since I first heard her voice.

And still today
While drifting off to deep slumbers, I hear-
The songs she had sung-

That appeared and disappeared
Within my forgotten dreams.

Scribbles of a Chaotic Mind

Sometimes my pen glides ever so smoothly down these old and worn out pages
Where blots of an ink of careless treading left me anxious and vigilant for my next line of perfect cursive.

A carefree child once scribbled her thoughts and plans like she has endless pages in her wake
without any fear of what the world holds...
not realising that monuments of an established law would bind her dreams on mere canvas.

Now the tip of my pen tread these pages like how we, barefooted, would tread on broken glass
For every blunder would lead to a page wasted or a broken nip
And we're running out of time...
They say I still have many years left
But the sands of my hourglass run so fast gobbling along with it all my thoughts and dreams that ends up in a cauldron of useless mess.

Is all this intelligence I'm blessed with a curse?

I know nothing at all.

The Irony

It is often during nights like these that my heart aches with an upsetting realisation that seemed to worsen the void.

During times like these that I wished I could shed tears a little freely .

It is during moments like these I curl like a caterpillar stuck inside a golden trap ... Waiting for the moment when a wandering eye catches sight of the dreadful beauty ...

Of a life lost in an amber .

Blackened Sails

How often do these tiny blooms
Of sorrow fill my soul?
In songs of fire lit long ago
Left burning by the snow.

How often do these solemn dreams
Speak of my troubled soul?
And sink my heart ten depths apart
From blackened tainted ores.

How often does my ship set sail
To silent, placid shores?
But sing to me of sirens' song
To pull me down below.

A Crowded Place

Drowsiness envelopes...
Under a starless night
Where light from an old tungsten bulb
Faintly penetrate a tree's thin leaves
My mind seeks a nostalgia I never seemed to find.
A faint cold breeze blew,
Whispering memories of a distant past...
I yearn for the wind
For the rain and the storm
Though it reminds me of a certain death...
My Death.

1711

Stars aligned that fateful night
An event unforgotten.
Two souls of dust and ash collide
Burning ever so bright
Amidst flickers of a darkness to come.

But the darkness fast approaches
Bleeding lies disguised in firm assurance

Of a fake promise.

-----------------------------

Her chest bled the colour of many sanguine shades
Hiding scars from the impact.

She moved away
Away from arrows that blighted her life's essence.
Yet further away from a certain warmth
The warmth she felt that night
The night when stars aligned.
