2020 the Year They Called Health Care Workers Heroes

2020 the year they called healthcare workers heroes
We seen this virus coming it came from far away, just not knowing when it would get here or how long it would stay.
We closed all borders and left ships to sail at sea, we saw this pandemic coming but it was a fear we couldn’t flee.
The hospital started planning on how to conserve PPE,
While healthcare workers were left in the dock, the plan a mystery.
So we all brace for the impact well somehow to furlough, as elective surgeries were put on hold and census got too low.
We all looked for guidance that would come from the CDC droplet or airborne and what do we need for PPE?
The recommendations change daily and soon we didn’t know who to trust, we wanted to take care of our patients but risking our own health was unjust.
As Covid patient started coming the hospital begin to transform, no one was allowed in to visit we were so sorry to inform. Our once a warm smile, we since then had to replace to wear a week old mask upon or frightened face.
Cough and sore throat were the Covid symptoms we thought we all know, but every day that passed the list of symptoms seem to grow.
So everyone was treated as if they were infected, but as supplies run low we were left feeling unprotected. Worried about our families and bringing this virus home, so many spent their nights in hotels which left him feeling alone.
We cared for the sick and dying, it was unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Patient’s gasping for ear and needing to be hooked up to the vent machine. Patients live there helpless alone and terrified with no family member present to sit along their side.
We did our best to care for patients without the proper drug, but this virus was preventing us from offering a hug.
Taking care of symptoms is an area that we are strong, but hidden behind this face shield it was a human touch that we are long.
Taking care of people is a passion we can’t ignore, although we are fighting in full Armor we feel like we are losing to this war.
Beyond the defeated dayshift and into the darkest night Is sometimes where you find it, a little glimpse of light. You may not be a savior and cure them from disease, but be their hand to hold and they’re desperate time of needs.
Then the glimpse of light grew brighter and applause began to sound EMS and people began to gather round, to thank the healthcare heroes whose hearts and bodies paid the toll, but the gratitude of the people is what lifted up their soul.
