A Land Somewhere In Africa

Somewhere in Africa, is a land blessed with nature:
Valuable gemstones beneath earth’s crust,
A fertile soil nurtured by divine tears from above,
And a blazing smile of radiant sun
But great depression has its hands gripped
On the heart and soul of this glorious land
For nature’s most precious stones are taken, to God knows where.

Somewhere in Africa, is a land built
Upon the foundation of freedom, and the prospect of equality
But slavery has become its reputation, both literally and figuratively
As lawsuits and jurists, rule in favor of higher statuses
And justice is denied the less fortunates.
In this land, aliens are celebrated as the noble breeds
While citizens are the unknown outcasts.

Somewhere in Africa, is a land where in,
The cries of the oppressed echo millions of miles
Through the ages, but there’s no one to listen
Their voices never seem to stop singing
The bleeding chorus for help and yet,
They are muted by the whistle of subjugation
And have therefore become a tuneless melody.

Somewhere in Africa, is a land where leaders
Are made to live like demigods and goddesses
While homeless infant, roam about the old rugged streets
As they are left alone, to fend for themselves
And single mothers, lie helplessly on troubled tummies
Because the proceeds of the economy is poured
Into the pockets of ruthless rulers.

Somewhere in Africa, is a land on which
There exit gifted souls, filled with never ending passions
And concealed endowments, awaiting exposure upon explosion
But only a blessed few, get to taste the fruit of innovation
For the external helps are not timely enough, to scratch the matches
And so thousands of these rare souls, have lived and died
With dreams unfulfilled and ideas unexpressed.

Somewhere in Africa, is a land where
The heirs of poetic insights, are rising from the shadows
Carving and penning, with the ink of solemn truth
The verses and stanzas, of unprecedented transformations
In the veins and arteries, of descending generations
The very stanzas needed, for the rebirth of this glorious land of liberty.

A Sonnet To My Mother: the Grateful Son

When I often think of my existence,
My subconscious can only imagine the unbearable pain endured by thee.
The Creator must have gone into tearful silence,
As you endeavored to give life to me.

O what unshakable firmness you summoned to have my embrace,
And the sweet sensations of my warm touch.
Yet ‘tis that pain that lighten up your face,
And bro’t forth joy to your glorious world.

In love abound, your arms cradled me peacefully;
I was well nurtured, in-spite of many challenges and for that, please take the credit.
The fabulous memories can’t all be recalled accurately,
But your harmonious lullaby, how can I forget it?

From this present time, to the moment earth shall perish
Dear Mother, your loving arms, I will forever cherish.

Just When You Decide

The barrier is broken
And the captive is pardoned.

The stainless blood is shed
And there’s no more a tear.

He was bruised
That we may be healed.

In our darkest and deepest despair
The Master’s love quenches all senses of fear.

Thanks to the Prince
We are no more slaves to sin.

Because of His peace
We can finally be at ease.

The battle is done and the Victory is won
Only in Christ, the True One.

From Divinity to Humanity
He offfers all Eternity.

Oh, what a Savior to behold
With such favor to adore.

Redemption and Salvation
Are His ways of Divine Compassion.

Yes, Salvation! It’s no product of human action
But made available when you make that One Decision.

The decision to make Jesus the Lord of your life, Master of your heart
And Giver of your sight.

One step away
Please don’t delay.

He’s standing at the door of your heart, fully prepared to come inside
Just When You Decide.

Rare Identity

I am a Doctor!
With an unhampered voice, these words I clearly utter.

When the wellness of humanity is endangered
I am the one upon whom society calls.

With my absence, nations fall into chaos
But my immense existence, brings the universe to order.

A troubled heart, is all I have when a soul is lost
As my one goal, is to be a life saver.

High on my agenda, is the improvement of the health sector
For I am bestowed, with the remedy to exterminate all bacteria.

In every region, my speciality is an irreplaceable factor
Therefore on holidays or not, I have no day off.

Entrusted in my care, are the lives of world leaders
And ensuring that mothers give life triumphantly, triggers within me an unspeakable joy.

I am not enraged when being underpaid because my work,
I do for love and nothing more.

When one looks upon me he wonders
As to how Mother Earth, came across such rare creature.

But proudly saying as a Doctor,
I am the cure Liberia needs for a brighter future.

The Unceasing Question: What If

What if you were an inhabitant of a world
Where there's no hate, greed, jealousy, envy, and pride;
And one is not enraged by the prosperity of another?
What if conceit and enmity are erased from the course of history,
And malignity is perpetually swallowed in the deepest of pits,
Sinking to rise no more?

What if your subconscious ideate a world
Filled with love, peace, and harmony?
What if Seven Billion human beings could live together under one canopy,
Tending to and upholding high esteem for one another
As benevolence becomes the ultimate act,
That reigns over all timelines?

What if we put aside the destructive comparisons and competitions,
And every individual follows his or her own path
While uplifting all others at the same time?
What if the promotion of individuality and self productivity,
Was the niche of every human —one to another—
And every gift and talent was equally consequential to society?

What if there was no lust for power
And political leaders as well as government officials,
Assume offices not to seek their own selfish interests
By misappropriating public funds, and embezzling state owned belongings to enrich themselves?
What if they had the sincere dedication
To ensure the welfare and security of the state and its citizens?

What if this world was a sanctuary of peace with the nonexistence of violence,
Where nations were aimed at building, rather than destroying one another?
What if unity becomes a compelling force
That binds the Earth to its core,
And compassion remains the lifelong element
That keeps the Universe in motion?

What if the globe was entirely void
of racism, prejudice, discrimination, and partiality;
Where each and every human was afforded equally the same opportunity
Regardless of their race, sex, ethnicity, culture or nationality?
What if we could finally dwell in a word once dreamed of by Martin Luther King Jr.,
Where "humans will no longer be judged based on the color of their skin, but by the contents of their character"?

There is an extreme power in these questions!
But what if they were a reality, can you imagine what we could all achieve?
What if you allow that imagination to create pictures of transformations?
What if you act stepwise from these unceasing questions,
And give it a chance to become a momentous action,
To make this Planet a better Creation?

Chaos

Man is lost to doom,
thirsting to soar higher —
higher than immortal skies

Pride often flames
the haughty paths
to the lions' den

Yet, danger to man,
remains unseen as
greed fuels his lust to glory,

Insolence wrestles nature,
and conceit glooms the
sight of his willful mind

Man is lost to doom,
his ego swings the air
till the abyss hugs his soul.
