Shahid Khan Poem
You and I
I concede
You are virtuous
I am delinquent
You refrain from forbidden
I oftentimes give in
You pride on your piety
I accept my fallibility
You strive to be an angel
Being human is my struggle
Your piety makes you heady
My failings keep me steady
Your prayers smell vanity
Mine spell humility
You believe you can earn heaven
I think it is only given
You believe
You will reside in heaven and I in hell
What if
In opposite places He makes us dwell?

Shahid Khan Poem
When having morning shower
Becomes a dilemma:
To have or not to have;
Know that you are old.
When morning shave
Becomes a task:
To do or not to do;
Know that you are old.
When tying shoelaces
Becomes a losing battle;
Know that you are old.
When hair on your ears
Grows faster than hair on your head;
Know that you are old.
When your nose becomes
More prominent than your face;
Know that you are old.
When your circle of friends
Shrinks from fifty to five;
Know that you are old.
When your wife stops
Prying on your phone;
Know that you are old.
When visits to toilet
Become frequent at night;
Know that you are old.
When a good night’s sleep
Becomes a rare commodity
Know that you are old;
When you see a thing of beauty
And don’t miss a heart-beat;
Know that you are old.
When a look in the mirror
Spoils your day;
Know that you are old.
When you keep denying
That You are old;
Know that you are old.

Shahid Khan Poem
I do not remember you
Nor did I forget you
The remnants of your memories
That seemed indelible yesterday
Are fading in the mist of time
And I see a new sun
Rising on the horizon
Heralding a new dawn.

Shahid Khan Poem
Let’s celebrate the death of our love, my dear
We believed it would live for ever
But it was mortal like us, too
It died when it was destined to
While it lived
It gave us our moments of joy
Moments that seemed eternal Moments that felt ethereal
Moments beyond time’s measure
Moments that we shall treasure
We wished our love lived for ever
But it was mortal like us, too
It died when it was destined to
Let’s celebrate the death of our love, my dear.
