a strange awakening
bathed the brain
fogged the eyes of night
remnants of dreams
unshakeable
looming still
with dawns new light
feet on the ground
grog wears off
carbon pops 
xylophone tickle up the spine
still this dream
a taunting tease
pleads definition
I know not why

empty stomach
eyes bagged from lunch
lingering taste 
of the hangover hunch
cotton chew 
of minced inner cheek
dead cigarette cloak
stains of the meek

dreams of a bedside fountain
flow through
the dry mouth dream
hopes for buildup to swallow
to flush the liquid unclean

ache of head
drool glued to the bed
a familiar vortex
spins out of control
sudden slip
of equilibrium
force dishonest tears to roll
