Explicit

I'm going to try one more time
To write an intellectual rhyme
Some with complicated words
Most of which I've never heard
Words that cudgel my brain
So I can deliberate and strain
My antediluvian brain
To think from a new perspective
Endeavour to be more selective
Perhaps I should keep improvising
These sesquipedalian words are so misguiding
It would save much more time
To stick (or adhere) to my simple rhyme

Wrong Language

Polly had a pet parrot
She wanted to teach to talk
The parrot didn't want to
As parrots only squawk

Polly was frustrated
With her stubborn parrot friend
She was very persistent
Sure of winning in the end

Polly faced the parrot
And started to talk
The parrot bit her on the lip
Which made poor Polly SQUAWK!

In Answer To Deb Ms Question

Idiosyncrasies, what are they?
I know I am eccentric,
I get more so every day,
My strange ways and weirdness,
Are always-on display,
I cannot hide it,
I often lose the plot.
I can't count my idiosyncrasies,
Because I have the lot.

thank you for your clever Poem, Deb
I think I read the lot.
Was it you that penned it, Deb,
Oh dear, I forgot.

That's Life

Life is what you make it.
I believed this was true.
I am not so sure today,
It may be for a few.
Few of us have a choice.
Of how we would like to live
There are too many takers
And far less of them that give.
How can a person make a life
Of happiness and peace
When wars and degradation
Cause unrest and never cease.
We should all be grateful
For this beautiful life, freely given
Why are so many dissatisfied?
And become money and power-driven.

Debra Or Deborah

Is she Debra or Deborah?
Debra suits her best
Although she has an aura
Her name could be Deborah.

Debra sounds sweeter,
I'd like to meet her,
Debra or Deborah,
You can't ignore her

She is a poet,
That's how we met.
She will go far in writing poetry,
I bet.

She has a knack,
By putting things right,
Pages and pages
Of words that delight.

I enjoy reading her poetry,
I try most days
Her foresight and understanding,
It blows me away.

If I could see into the future,
After taking a long look
I am confident I would see
The name Deb M on the cover of a book.

Overthink

Often I overthink
And my thinking goes askew
I feel myself sinking
And overthink anew

I question every aspect,
Of every written word
I try to find the meaning
Of complicated words.

I am in awe of others that write,
Their pens flow with ease
And their spelling is always right

Their pen paints pictures.
Of every shape and size
And tells a story
Of how they feel inside.

Their writing is precise,
And detailed in every way,
Written with confidence
With their talents on display.

They would not get befuddled,
Or confused or overthink
Their brains don't get muddled
Because they are succinct.

Fragility

A beautiful glass vase
Must be handled with care
Made with love,
Without a blemish or tear.

The glazier takes pride.
As he fashions the glass,
He always tries
To make each one
As perfect as the last.

When the glass is complete,
And out of the glazier's hands
It looks like a treat
As it graciously stands,
On an antique table
That stood in the hall
Dusted carefully,
In case it may fall

What has fate in store
For this exquisite glassware
Who could ask for more
Created without a flaw.

Fine glass is very fragile,
It easily breaks
It is a unique commodity
A lot of courage it takes.
To survive.
And keep alive.
Maybe one day in the future
It will come to pass,
That all living creatures
Are as fragile as glass.

Lifes Mysteries

Life will always be full of mysteries
If you are an inquisitive person
Forever searching for information
Everything referring to life and death
Science, history and biology

Murder, mayhem, magic, music and myth
You, me, them, those and other mysteries
Sun, moon, stars, satellites, sputniks and space
Typhoons, tornados, thunder and lightning
Everything in nature a mystery
Reptiles, roos, dinosaurs, fish, insects
Indigenous *****sapiens all
Evolution, religion and culture
Spectacles (Oh dear, I cannot find mine)

My Valentine

When you walk by, my legs go weak
You set my heart on fire
Your handsome face
Your warm embrace
Would fill me with desire
I look at you with loving eyes
As you go walking past me
Imagine going out with you
If you would only ask me
Maybe you have a lover
Or a loving wife
Perhaps you are too busy
To want to share your life
How can I get to know you
And someday make you mine?
It would make my life complete
To be your valentine
