Just Like Me

As I look back upon my life
And what it might have been
And see how fast it all past by
It’s almost like a dream

It started with much promise
Though it had it’s share of bumps
And now I sit here reminiscing
With my bruises scars and lumps

I could have been a comic
But I wasn’t very funny
I could have been a playboy
But I never had the money

I could have been a rockstar
But I couldn’t sing a note
Might have been the president
But i never got a vote

Could have been a carpenter
But I never had the tools
Could have a banker
But I never liked those fools

Could have been a model
But i never had the looks
Could have been a teacher
But i never read those books

Could have been a moviestar
But i never learned to act
But what I am is all i am
And baby that’s a fact

The moral of the story
Is a simple as can be
Go and try be what you want
Or you’ll end up just like me

--

Most of us are afraid to fly
Because we fear we’ll fall
But better to try flying than
Continue to just crawl
So spread your wings
 and take a chance
Because life can be quite brief
And maybe all it ever took
Was a little self belief

Friend

Friend

Oh why oh why doesn’t ostrich fly
The lion roared oh why oh why
He has the feathers
He has the wings
And all of those other birdie things

Along came the monkey
Who pretended that he knew
And would glady tell all
For banana’s, a bunch or two

The lion turned quickly
And the monkey took flight
For he knew quite rightly
The lion he wouldn’t fight

A little while later
A giraffe sauntered by
But the lion couldn’t hear him
Because he held his head so high

Then along came the elephant
Who waved his might ears
I’d really like to tell you
But it just brings me to tears

A short time later
The crocodile appeared
He said I know the reason
As his throat he did clear

A long time ago
When Ostrich was sick
He had little friend
Who by his side did stick

And when he did recover
A promise he did make
I will never fly away again
For you, I will not forsake

So if you ever see him
With his head down in a hole
You’ll know that he’s just visiting with
His little friend the mole

Fat Cats

I see the fact cats getting fatter
I see the poor folk getting weak
I’m told that somewhere in the bible
We’re told to turn the other cheek

I see the rich man on a drug charge
He’s going get a second chance
jail a poor man who stole to feed his child
,judge say’s we got to take a stance

I see the politician on the Tv
Saying he’s going to make it right
But once he’s got the vote
  he’s sitting on his boat
Sipping champagne thru the night.

I see the preacher all high & mighty
Saying we got to help the poor
But then you see his home
Is like the pleasure dome
It’s got me wondering for sure

I see wars in other countries
They just don’t seem to make no sense
The politicians lie, as the innocent die
And survivors live in tents

I see the greed of the few
Out weighs the need s of the many
Because most of those with all the gold
Wouldn’t part with even pennies

Why don’t we do something about this
Why don’t we get up on the floor
Why don’t we do something about it
Lets show these people to the door

Anxiety

When you question your existence

And the reason for being here

When you’re crippled by your own self doubt

Paralyzed by your fears

You need to take that first step

As hard as that may be

Try to find that inner strength

That you have, but cannot see

Take a look around you

And appreciate the good

like birds the bees the apple trees

While walking through the woods

Stand beside the ocean

Breath the salty air

Take a ride on a motorbike

Let the wind run through your hair

It’s the simple things can lift you

Not money, homes, or cars

Spend time with the one’s you love

While staring at the stars

Bear

One day while walking thru the woods
I saw a big brown bear
I looked at him he looked at me
We both just stopped and stared

He looked at my fingers
As I looked at his nose
He looked at my funny ears
That were blue because it was cold

He looked at my woolen hat
And very rosy cheeks
As I was wondering to myself
I wonder what bears eat

I then looked at his massive paws
As he looked at my feet
At this time I noticed
His very long sharp teeth

The bear let out a mighty roar
And I began to tremble
As a thought ran thru my mind
Is it food that I resemble

I then looked down at my watch
And said
Is that the time , Oh my
You’ll have to excuse Mr Bear
I really have to fly

Imagine

Imagine

Imagine if you knew
The day you were going to die
Imagine if you went through life
without ever having to lie

Imagine if you were perfect
And a person with no fault
Imagine if you were never angry
Kept it all locked up in a vault

Imagine if you had to power
To wipe away all tears
Imagine if you had the power
To chase away all fears

Image if you had to power
To make sick people well
Imagine that would probably be like
Closing the gates of hell

Imagine if you never saw
Color, Creed, or race
Imagine if you faced your demons
Spat right in their face

Imagine if there was no such thing
As hunger, fear, or war
Imagine if the ones who fought
Knew what they were fighting for

Imagine there was no such thing
As egos or massive greed
Imagine that would probably mean
More people with less needs

Imagine if you had dreams like John
Of a world that lived in peace
Imagine enough likeminded people
Could turn this into a belief

Alter Ego

Alter Ego

I am just a simple man

With little education

But sometimes being a simple man

Can add to one’s frustration

Why can’t you be more like Brad

That handsome movie star

Or even more like that guy Neil

In a spaceship he went far

Maybe a bit like Lewis

Who drives his car so fast

Or the one they call Usain

I’m sure he never finished last

Maybe like the guy named Prince

Who can play and sing and dance

Or the guy they call Fabio

Who’s full of love and romance

Maybe more like Elon

Who seems so very smart

Or the guy by the name of Billy Gates

We all know he can start .

But I am just a simple man

With very simple taste

And trying to be like someone else

Just seems like such a waste

Yesterday

Yesterday when I was young
a life full of delight
we ran and played
in fields and streams
for morning till last light

yesterday when I was young
a life that’s full of wonder
of birds and bees
and apple trees
and even scary thunder

yesterday when I was young
we sometimes went to school
but could not wait
for the final bell
so we could act the fool

yesterday when I was young
the family was quite large
the clothes and toys
had to be shared
or you’d answer to those in charge

yesterday when I was young
we didn’t have much money
but life it seemed much simpler then
and definitely a lot more funny

Midlife Crisis

Midlife crisis

Is this just
A midlife crisis
Or am I doing
 what I like
for I just went
and purchased myself
a brand new motorbike

is this just
a midlife crisis
or am I just insane
for just last week
I went and jumped
Out of an aeroplane

Is this just
A midlife crisis
Climbing up this hill
Not at all
I told myself
I’m just looking
For jack ,or jill

Is this just
A midlife crisis
As I go dancing
Every night
Not at all
I told myself
It brings me much delight

Is this just
A midlife crisis
As I drive my car
So fast
Not at all
I told myself
I couldn’t afford it
In the past

  When you hit
The midlife hour
Some may say
Your sappy
But who care’s
What the others think
Just do what makes you happy

Foolish Heart

My foolish heart
Has been broken
More than once
But I will not
Write about it
With fancy words and fonts

My foolish heart
Has been broken
Many times
But I put it
Back together
With some
Silly verse and rhymes

My foolish heart
Will always try again
Because love
It makes the world go round
So if you stop
I guess it ends
