To My Love

Dreams,
Forgotten in a sea of agony
Remembered in waves of regret
And the terror of letting go

Love,
Given freely in the warmth of a kiss
Taken quickly in anticipation
Of pain promised to pass

Her warmth surrounds me
Her strength becomes my own
Her skin holds the memory
Of the familiar touch of my hand

Her lips
Wet and wanting

Her eyes
Open and waiting

Her arms
Accepting and mournful

Her body
Needful and forgiving

Lust,
A wishful gift of life
Unable to be ignored or pushed away
As we lay together

Dreams,
Forgotten in the blanket of night
Remembered in the light of day
Increasing the terror of letting go

Just For You, My Sweet Kimberly

Just for you . . .
I find happiness in a smile
Just for you . . .
I long for the night
Just for you . . .
I walk an uncomfortable mile
Just for you . . .
I mean these words I write

Just for you . . .
I believe in a happy end
Just for you . . .
You and only you
Just for you . . .
My heart has begun to mend
Just for you . . .
I long for dreams to come true

Selfish as I have been
I hope forgiveness finds me
Alone here in the dark
Wrapped in what yet may be

I find myself
These fleeting moments remind me
I lose myself
like dust in a summer breeze
Just for you . . .

Just for you . . .
Tears roll forever down my face
Just for you . . .
I see a love both calm and true
Just for you . . .
I search the world for my place
Just for you . . .
A home I always knew

Just for you . . .
Possibility breeds longing
Just for you . . .
Closeness breeds contentment
Just for you . . .
Love warms me deep within
Just for you . . .
I lay open my every sin

Lust
Lying in bed beside me
Home
Deep within each kiss
Rest
Hidden in your arms
Truth
With the parting of your lips

This kairos I will not lose
By blood and love I sign
I have been shown a path to choose
in which our hearts will align

Hazy and forlorn
Memories scratch at the walls of my heart
Crazy and worn
I feel myself tearing apart
Just for you . . .

Just for you . . .
I will do my best
Just for you . . .
I know that I can
Just for you . . .
Our love I will no longer test
Just for you . . .
I will be who I am

Just for you . . .
My sweet Kimberly
Just for you . . .

Careless

I slept
full of hope and dreams
I awoke
empty and forgotten
Careless as I was back then

Morning sounds
swirling in my ears
Pointless thoughts
filling my head

"She can."
but will she ever again
"She is."
though no longer for me

I stood
alone and stiff
I walked
slow and without purpose
Careless as I was back then

The smell of spring
mingled with sunshine
as the touch of day
warmed me no more

"I was."
but I threw it all away
"I did."
though I do not know why

I hoped
for a day without me
I cried
where no one could see
Careless as I was back then

Was this longing
joyless and caretaking
awaiting its chance
to bring me home again

Or was I lost
forever here like a wounded angel
Despaired and angry
the evening came again

Without warning
Without love
Without consumption
Without her

"In her arms,"
I wondered as the sun slipped away
"would I feel whole again?"
my hurt had wasted another day

I laid down
empty and forgotten
I slept
full of hope and dreams
Careless as I was back then

Only Once

Darkness laid around us like a blanket
Consuming us in its womb
She was crying
I was quiet

Crickets chirped softly in the distance

Her face was buried in my chest
She was shaking like a small child
I felt numb
She was sorry

The moon looked down upon us

I thought it would be different
I thought I would be empowered
She thought it would be different
She thought she would be free

I rolled her softly over
I sat up to view the night
She curled up in a ball
Still wriggling with remorse

Patting her on the shoulder
I lit a cigarette

Repulse

Love subdues the horror of life
To release the dreams of lost children

Rock ... Rock

Rock ...

Rock ...

The dry leaves crackle under our blanket
One of only two sounds that find me
The other is her

Rock ...

Rock ...

Pure and lovely
Wanted and wanting
She is all

Rock ...

Rock ...

Skin against skin
Joy upon joy
We find heaven for a time

Rock ...

Rock ...

There is no pain and we suffer not
There is only Us
Us and the autumn leaves

Rock ...

Rock ...

I can not tell her sweat from mine
Everything is as one
As our bodies

Rock ...

Rock ...

I hear my name on her lips
It sounds natural
It feels right

Rock ...

Rock ...

Her hair dances across my face
It smells of strawberries
Strawberries and Us

Rock ...

Rock ...

I feel it and her body tenses and trembles
I see the passion being excised
I see the pleasure become too much

Rock ...

Rock ...

It rolls over me and I lose control
For a moment I feel one with the entire world
I hear her playful laugh
                                  Her shy laugh
                                                      Her dirty little girl laugh

Rock ...

I fall to the blanket
The crunching leaves greet me
With dry and welcome applause

I love her
I love her

I think that she loves me, too

Coffee Shop

Bustling people and clinking forks
A crowded maze of tables and chairs
The soft conversations meant to be secret
Rise to a horrible din of mingling words and phrases

The smell of stale coffee beans and perfume
Caress my nose with a familiar touch
The morning shines outside the huge windows
Burning brightly, it washes out the crowd

People become shadows in the insane light
The breaking dawn ruins their features
I set alone in this madness of Sun-fire
My senses raped by terrible sights and sound

They fuel my desire to be ...

The smell of unwashed skin and vodka
Drifts in on a fugitive breeze
The rattle of a beggar's cup points to its source
Its owner's suffering passes silently amongst the crowd

An old man sits with his paper in hand
A daytime hooker enjoys her hazelnut creamer
A well-dressed woman curses her cellphone and spills her latte
A child grips her legs and she curses him as well

In a dream
Sepia tones and friendly faces
In a nightmare
Shadow beasts and hungry eyes

They fuel my desire to be ...

My pen begins to glide along the rough paper
A few words, hard pressed, appear like forgotten children
Suddenly their voices are not so loud
My eyes begin to focus only on the paper

A beautiful thing begins to form
An ornament to the chaos around me
I find a wonderful peace
And the words flow gently and with ease

The shadow beings float around me
Trying to disturb my bubble of genesis
There sounds cannot stop me, I do not fear them
These hateful beasts are helping me so

They fuel my desire to be ...

We Do

We sit
staring at the Sun
wishing you were here
wishing we were anywhere
anywhere but here

We want
for the taste of human desire
salty
sweet and creamy
with the spirit of She

We ride
like crazed urban cowboys
We take no prisoners as we clang across the ticky tacky asphalt
with the sickly sweet city air in our teeth
and in between drags from our outdated cigarettes … We cry

We cry
long and hard we cry and cry
We shed these tears
amongst close friends
The sorrow is not for the world you see
It is for us and only us

We ****
like rabid and wild animals
We roll in sweaty filthy sheets
and share a trickster form of companionship
naked and lonely
together for brief moments as we slam our swollen genitals into one another
with only lust
for we were never taught to love

We roam
from person to person
from street to street
from hapless moment to hapless moment
like a dry and aimless desert wind
We do nothing but kick up sand and dream

We dream
big and powerful and American dreams
lovely dreams
beautiful dreams
lonely and hopeless dreams
We dream of getting out
We dream of getting in
We dream with open eyes and gushing hearts
We sometimes feel deep within our beating chests
that these dreams could one day be
but they are visions of a world we will never see

We sit
staring at the Sun
wishing you were here
wishing we were anywhere
anywhere but here

An American Story

Blood rained down like teardrops
Down her cheeks and to the floor
Her head was resting on my lap
And she took breath no more

Love as fleeting as the sun
Cares as wasteful as moonlight
I made a promise there
To make things right

I arose to meet my destiny
I awoke like a beast in heat
I reached for the gun on the floor
And said goodbye to my sweet

Angie . . . .
            Angie. . . .
                        Angie . . . .

My own voice echoed in my head
Like thunder pulsing through my ears
I wiped my own tears on my shirt
And went to face my fears

"I'll be back my love."
My voice like sandpaper
The gun felt like a brick
The weight of my promise to her

My boots creaked across wooden boards
My thoughts ran like a river
Never stopping but going nowhere
Treading aimlessly forever

My shirt was red with her
Angie's life had spilled out on me
I wrung the shirt with my empty hand
And set her spirit free

A song was playing soft and barely heard
It drifted in like a spring time breeze
This musical wind strolled through my open door
And set my mind at ease

I followed this breeze to the street
And left it as I found my car
Setting down on the driver's side
I looked back toward my open door

Angie. . . .
            Angie . . . .
                        Angie. . . .

Alone I left her there

I promise to
Who did this to you
Will meet the same fate

Angie. . . .
            Angie . . . .
                        Angie. . . .

Alone I left her there

I Am ... I Feel

I am
I am empty
I am forgotten
I am

I am
I am lost
I am lonely
I am

I feel
I feel bruised
I feel broken
I feel

I feel
I feel uncertain
I feel sadness
I feel

I am bruised
I am broken
I feel empty
I feel forgotten

I am

I feel
