Whats Heaven Like Uncle

Daryl uncle daryl where art though
are you looking down from up high
have you been given your wings yet
have you learned how to fly

have you made people laugh
or are you the new guy in town
are ypu enjoying the view
to earth each time you look down

are you now wrinkle free
your tummy made to be tight
are you clothes made to fit you
have they increased your height

are there cars and some bikes
or busses there just for you
do you drive in the clouds
where the sky is always blue

have you been reunited
with your dogs from down here
did they run straight to you
did you shed a tear

have you had good chance
to speak to your family yet
what was the first thing you said
at the moment you first met

do you all live together
or do you have your own cloud
do you grow your own food
are the fields perfectly ploughed

so many questions
i wish i could ask you today
but until we meet in heaven
ill talk to you when i pray

wherever you are
please come and visit sometime
because we cant come to you
that would be quite a climbe

To My Own Self Say Sorry

Tears reunite with my cheeks once again
Just as the dark clouds above start to rain
It Felt as if God was their crying with me
I felt he was close yet my eyes couldn’t see

A man wearing red who looked my age but no older
Comes over to me and puts his arm round my shoulder
Before he could speak I just broke down and cried
As if I had found out that morning a loved one just died

He spoke not a word and just lent a kind ear
Making me feel that thy father was near
I suddenly realised, I was grieving you see
The person who died was none other than me

I was mourning the loss of a man in good health
and took shelter in seeking a life of false wealth
as gold turned to copper and patience to fear
the mountain to climb for forgiveness was sheer

ive never said sorry for letting you down
for not sending a lifeboat when you started to drown
I let your broad shoulders carry more than its fair load
Stopped your lips from saying you’re about to explode

Your children were left with a shell of a man
A dad that just didn’t do all that he can
I buried Your hurt and kept it deep down inside
And I picked the wrong people for you to confide

Why did I let weakness walk in through the door
And then let you think you could deal with some more
You broke so many walls down which I quickly rebuilt
But each one I made higher adding anger and guilt

Whilst death in mortality can’t be erased and undone
I know you’ll come back once more from that place past the sun
When we’re united there is no turning back
I promise I’ll always help you loosen the slack

Ill save you from drowning and be your strength when you’re weak
I will unlock your lips forever letting you speak
I’ll give your energy back and desires to care
You’ll gain the trust of your kids to know you’ll always be there

When weakness comes knocking I’ll never open the door
Ill shut all the windows and the curtains will draw
The walls will not be rebuilt to prevent your progression
You’ll have a life full of laughter where there once was depression

Journey

a day in the life
of an everyday man
mostly working to live
to provide what he can

looking at others
and comparing success
but a man who has everything
can sometimes have less

the gold and the splender
are all material things
when its time to go back
all your need are your wings

a time of reflection
a quiet moment of thought
to make the most of this time
as this time is too short

mistakes are a given
its all part of our plan
so lets meet them head on
and just be a good man

we’re all here for a purpose
so lets lead and lets learn
and start looking for answers
and have faith in concern

to make the most of the knowledge
we’ve been given since birth
ask lots of questions
theres more to this earth

are we here to return
with a story to tell
did we fail before
and came here cos we fell

whatever the reason
i will make the most of this life
to be a the best I can be
alongside my beautiful wife

i know life is for living
our time is for a reason
its not too long so remember
to make the most of this season

there could be a god
with a son who’s the saviour
would the truth make a man
change his earthly behaviour

i am not a sinner
neither a saint
a non waivering faith
but actions that taint

im a man on a mission
to be the best i can be
ill be there once more
for the whole world to see

funny how life
offers twists and some turns
playing russian toullette
with the ending to learn

Purple Lipstick

your purple lipstick and bright blue eyes
long blonde hair and magnificent thighs
my heart pounding so fast and my hands are all sweaty
my mouth starts to dry and my mind like spaghetti

I started to daydream about you in my life
and naming our children with you as my wife
a house in the country surrounded by hills
never having to worry about paying our bills

lighting the fire from the logs we collected
putting the guard up so the kids are protected
our youngest would get the playing cards out from the drawer
and make us all sit together crossed legged on the floor

as each child grew wings that saw them all fly our nest
we did travel the world leaving no time to rest
living our life in our Volkswagon van
as the chasers of sun to help you top up your tan

your golden brown skin and your shiny grey hair
the ankle bracelet that’s fraying over the converse you wear
returning home in our van you start the walk to the door
giving a wave to the neighbour stood outside number four

a life we did lead and there’s more left for us
our kids have had kids with our job just to fuss
as my memory fades about our travels and trips
I hope ill never forget my girl with purple lips

Park Football

park football

 once school duties were over
we all went straight to the park
using jumpers for goalposts
and play until it gets dark

the rule that never got broken
and was abided by all
was that you could be captain
if we played with your ball

two captains are picked
and flip a coin to pick first
each child then judged
from the best to the worst

the release of the tension
as each kid hears his name
your social standing made clear
before the start of the game

just two more players left
before the match then begins
the kid with thick brown glasses
or the fat kid with 5 chins

ill have chunky he can go in goal
hes as good as having twins
you lot can take spectacles
and also you are skins

kick off loomed and excitement grew
on the field of castle batch
the formation of 10 forward players
and two goalies that cant catch

there was always that one skillfull kid
that had magnets on his feet
and the moody angry one
that just cant stand it when hes beat

there was always that tall gangly boy
with arms as long as legs
and that cocky little jack the lad
who is always calling megs

the best bit is when home time looms
and its nearly time for dinner
it doesn’t matter if your 10 nil up
the next goals is the winner

and if the team thats 10-5 down
scores and wins that game
park football rules do clearly state
that the victory they can claim

Plan For Me

Your Pain will be temporary but eternal glory awaits
You will rise to the top through heavens pearly white gates
You will tell the whole world how low for you life became
And just like a phoenix how you rose from the flame

you have been chosen to lead one of god’s special tribes
so trust in whats happening and in the words that you scribe
your tribulations and trials you bravely took on yourself
so when your army descended they’d always have a good health

you’ll feel every emotion from fear love hate and elation
these are your most precious gifts for you to share with the nation
I will bless your loving family with a strength from up high
To hear truth in your voices and see trust in your eyes

A special blessing i’ll bestow upon each one of you
So precious and powerful trusted in just a few
My dear brother Andrew live your life to this rule
A foolish man rides a stallion but the learned a mule

So tell me how much worse it gets so I can be prepared
My worry is i’ll go to far and that’s what makes me scared
Difficulty seeing who’s a friend or a foe
Letting intrigue beat sense which hardly leads to a no

I feel crowded in an empty room and deafened by no sound
My brain is playing hide and seek but logic can’t be found
Im tired each and every day from building my defence
To shield the world from what I feel
inside that’s so intense

Stop and listen to my voice that I shall send to thee
If then I feel your true desire my presence you will see
A promise made upon thy name and never will be broken
The time when peace resides within your ears will hear what’s spoken

You plan your life around a clock that only has one hand
use guess work in the times in life to run or when to stand
As efforts are misplaced and focused in the wrong direction
Your children are in desperate need of there dads protection

This will last for a moment but a vital part of your lifes plan
So cast your eyes far and wide and take in all that you can
Your mind shall repair and your strength be restored
Your words shall be heard as if a lion has roared

Forgiveness be given and never spoke of again
Your joy will be felt 10 fold more than your pain
So trust in all of what prompts in your heart
That is the journey towards a fresh start

I Love You Mummy

my favourite thing about you
is that your beautiful you know
you say i love you every day
and everyday my love grows

your wonderful and generous
you make the best of what youve got
which sometimes is the best part
of nothing not a lot

your cooking is okay to me
although cereals the best
but that chicken broccoli rice thing we had
can put it to the test

you are always there for comfort
and give me cuddles when im sad
you let me have your phone alot
and that always makes me glad

at night times are my favourite
when we watch netflix and just chill
your love captures my senses
i can touch, smell hear and feel

youre the prettiest in the world
theres no one who can match
my daddy is so lucky
to have caught the winning catch

never change my mummy
youre perfect as you are
you will always be my favourite
the perfect brightest star

Success Shared With Lonely

to get to the top where the high rollers play
you must always seek sunshine to make all the hay
life becomes one big office that you never can leave
never let failure derail you and always believe

the route to the top offers all you desire
the dreams of great fortune gets you higher and higher
focused on the next task and blind to all thats around
no desire for love except the love of the pound

no sympathy shown for the mentally ill
for the sick or the lonely did sorry you feel
so now is your time to be taught whats inside
and restore your compassion and be rid of your pride

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight. and values only his buys
be ready to fall and in sight be a sinner
and understand that the riches doesnt make a lifes winner

whilst your eyes will become wide and your heart become soft
a fall on to your knees sees you hands rise aloft
the visions of all that you walked past in haste
no help did you offer fearing time you would waste

mankind will be brought low, and each man will be humbled;
the arrogant eyes will be lowered. and their mortar be crumbled
now pay attention my son and trust your saviour your lord
as he rids the worlds hatred and peace will be restored

your tunnelll vision ambition has been laden with frills
the cars and the mansion as the bank account fills
no thought for man women or beast just yourself as the only
had all the trappings of gold but success shared with lonely

Strength of Love

words written to "hey there Delilah" song

Hey there my rachy
Your so smart funny and pretty
If you asked i’d walk a thousand miles
Through Every town and city
Just for you
Upon this earth your one of few
It’s all for you

Hey there my rachy
I knew we would go the distance
Always there when you were tearful
With a loving ear to listen
Wipe your eyes
Pray to god there’s no more cries
Your spirits rise

Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me

Hey there my rachy
Thanks for giving me your strength
To help me battle through my war
I faced by following the tenth
your life got hard
tested and permanently scarred
your life got hard

Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me

hey there my rachy
i have words I want to say
so much I just don’t think i’ll have enough
of minutes in a day
must find a way
for all your kindness i’ll repay
i’ll find a way

Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me
Oh it’s always you and me

I’ll Find a way to fix your scar
And lift you up just like a bra
And always put you first no matter what
My friends will be put down the list
Life’s path now straight without a twist
a man that we can proud of again
My rachy I can promise you
I’ll fix your heart I broke in two
To make your mind and body feel brand new
I promise you

Hey there my rachy
Good to see you have you missed me
These two years have been a learning curve
That’s shown me what in life that I should be
Travel the world just you and me
Living stress free

Footpath Angel For the Fingerless Glove

as you lay down beside me in peace whilst you sleep
i think of the pain thats stored in you so deep
amazed every day just how you still show so much care
the worlds full of goodness but yours is quite rare

you would give your last breath to help a struggling sol
you can see in a person when lives taking its tol
you put everyone first and share whats left all around
you would never think twice to give up your last pound

a wondering stranger catches a climpse of your eye
theres is never a time that youve walked on by
seeing more than the man you see the torture inside
you stop and talk to the man and help restore his lost pride

an outstretched hand you will offer to the fingerless glove
like his saint and his angel thats been sent from above
not a judgement is made or pity heard in her tone
just a desire to show him that he is not all alone

teaching our children the value of charity
that the beggers position is not self explanitory
to sit down by ther side and lend an ear to their words
showing that there are angels amongst the ignorant herds

the man with no name is the same as any other
inside is the story for this book with no cover
a little deeper to dig will open up this best seller
you take a hold of his hand as his story he tells ya

as we said our goodbyes he whispeared thanks in my ear
with one last act of compassion you wiped away his first tear
an example of just how to live and how we all should just love
you gave a man normal who wears fingerless gloves

Book: Reflection on the Important Things
