Tebatjo Malaka Poem
It is said that nothing lasts forever,
But where's the exception that memories
Do? The moments we shared on the river,
In the ocean, and by the fire, with ease,
And smiles that kept us closer everyday,
Long after we both were gone remains still,—
Witnessed by the sun, moon, and winds of May
And the wide blue atmosphere that they fill.
Some say our friendship was buried in a sea,
Nulled to full nothingness, and were done;
Little do they know it wasn't fate's story,—
We were there to write our friendship in stone.
Though nothing's permanent, but and for sure,
Our mem'ries are kept safe on the seashore.
