A Black Oak Tree

A noble Black Oak tree stands tall and tranquil
Wearing brown, old and dried crumpled leaves
Withstanding all autumn and winter storms
Without any distress or any grief
Golden fall is long gone, cold, wet season is also concluding
Spring is poking its head up with colorful bulbs blooming
Some of her allies have Cherry blossoms in flourish
Some show progression of luscious new emerald leaves
Mother earth knows unique behavior of her child
With assurance, she lets her be herself while watching over with smile
Tree wants to hold on to longstanding and withered for a while long
Not ready yet to let go of dear presence of that warmth
April comes along to cheer her up
Tree beams, perks up
Ridding her old dry appearance, starts dressing up
Growing yellowish handsome clusters of dangling male catkins,
Gorgeous reddish female flowers in short striking javelins,
Velvety foliage of sharp zigzag tips in red tinge,
With pointed seven to nine lobes with bristles exquisitely unique
Summer grows them into profound shade of shiny green
Rust colored acorns with top halves enclosed in caps start appearing
Showing her wisdom in her towering strength and stability,
With canopy of branches widespread and mighty,
Tree gets ready once more for visitors of ecosystem to offer plenty…

Dancing Stream

Nestled in a mountain town,
Enclosed in downs of clouds,
Flows a dancing stream
Spiraling, bouncing,
Swaying along with the mountain breeze

Winding through trees, rocks and bushes,
Supporting vibrant foliage,
She voyages through forest
Jabbering, hopping
Swaying along with the mountain breeze

Dazzling in the sun
Shining thousands of sparkling diamonds
She springs over rocks and pebbles
Bubbling, splashing,
Swaying along with the mountain breeze

Attending to the whispers of the sky
And wheezing winds
She travels catching pearls of raindrops
Clinking, twirling
Swaying along with the mountain breeze

Entertaining and providing to peoples
And friends from the wild
She drifts ceaselessly with vitality
Spiraling, bouncing,
Swaying along with the mountain breeze

Still Enjoying Summer

A cool summer morning
Behind a cloud the sun is hiding
Pleasant fresh scent from trees of pine
Nippy air in the surroundings

Cooler breeze of southern winds blowing
Is it a little taste of fall season’s upcoming?
All the pollinators are hiding
Hoping it is just a phase that is passing

River flow is receding
Water is softly tapping
Under water buried rocks revealing
Attractive green foliage appearing

Ah, the sun came out
A pair of Blue Jays gave a loud shout
Flowers of Black Eyed Susan beamed
A lone Daisy swayed and smiled

Evening Prim Roses started closing up
Bees and butterflies showed up
Bumble Bees came to explore the flowers of Sweet Pea
Many insects flew in to enjoy the warming spree

The sun started shining brightly
The air started warming up nicely
I took off my sweater quickly
Magic of life-giving summer, I still want to enjoy thoroughly!!

Thankful for the Gift of Music

Music is my soul’s expression,
a mirror of my deepest emotions
Its rhythm creates my mood
Its crispness takes away solitude

Music is my unique art
It speaks to me through melodies of all sorts
Its energy refreshes my surroundings
By vibrating the cords of my heart

It is the sunshine to my voice
It’s a spiritual hobby of my choice
By spreading out its meditative harmony,
It transcends the boundaries of space and time

What would I do without my music
I’m grateful for this divine gift
So, I hum some soft notes
And create some delightful chimes for the nearby souls.

Grace

Miss your barks, miss your presence
Miss your enthusiastic greetings, miss your adorable face
Miss the innocence of your brown eyes, miss your liveliness
Miss the vibes that you spread, of your infectious cheerfulness

Miss the walks we took together and the hikes we did to hills and lakes
Miss your tenacity and stamina and your amazing athletic strength
Miss your adept swimming for a stick you wanted to fetch
Miss your feisty eagerness when you ran and played your favorite ball-chase

Miss those conversations we had of unspoken language
Miss feeling your calming aura around while doing yoga on the carpet
Miss your alert growling at the sound of the doorbell
Miss your sweet friendliness to connect with all the arriving guests

Though we no longer see you coming to our calls,
Or see you retrieving no more of your favorite sticks and balls
You live in our thoughts, you live in our hearts
I ponder and pause, feel you near, not far

Your incredible patience, your enormous faith,
Your immense confidence and your selflessness
Reva, you were an ideal example of God’s grace…
Having you in our lives, we truly feel blessed!!

Visit To a Mountain River

Summer is here with its extended day light
Mountains are giving up on their accumulated stock of snow piles
The river is gushing with vigor carrying fresh cold water supply
Its dancing bubbly liquid is glittering in the sun’s sparkly stimuli
She comes meandering through luscious mountain valleys
Making the surrounding land enriched and generously fertile
Old and new trees of fir, pine and oak stand along her rims
Keep the mountains green and healthy for the roaming animal breeds

The change of the season is showing new growths on the tree tips
Many daisies and purple sweet pea flowers are covering nearby fields
Gorgeous red planted roses are blossoming in the sunlight
A Grapevine is also showing a start of new fruit to my delight
Dark blue magnificent Stellar Jays welcome visitors by their loud songs
Showing their bold inquisitiveness swooping from branch to branch

A pair of black Phoebe birds kept flying on the water to catch flies
Bringing back food to their precious chicks in the nest above a windowsill
A loner mink showed its appearance time to time after sunset
Hurrying fast to find a meal before hiding back into his cozy den
A black bear visited a few times in the darkness of nights
Happily wandering around the shared land after humans are gone to sleep

A visit to the rhythmic mountain river brought energizing breaths of refreshing air
Helped me notice and learn from the simplicity of nature’s behavior

Beauty of Impermanence

Crisp air, fallen leaves
Shattered shapes,
Whispering tales of metamorphosis.
Their effortless art of surrender,
Breaking down into the soil to serve the growth of others,
Demonstrate the value of transition.
They fulfill the circle of life,
Becoming echoes of the essence of existence,
Displaying the absolute beauty of impermanence.

Spring Forward

In the quiet dawn of March,
When winter relaxes its cold grip,
The daylight stretches its arms,
While serving a dynamic delight.

The sun, shining vibrantly,
decorates the sky with hues of hope,
Clocks leap forward eagerly,
And daffodils happily endorse.

Daisies roll out wispy vows,
Their petals, intricate art pieces,
Cherry blossoms’ fancy bows,
Dance intensely with the spring breezes.

Birdsongs jingle the mornings,
A symphony of joy and rebirth,
Old wisdom is whispering,
To initiate and leap forward.

Our Furry Daughter Reva

Our four-legged furry daughter Reva bid us a farewell
She went on her new journey wagging her tail
God came to take her during her sleep
Took her to his magnificent land to run around and leap

She came to say goodbye to us before she left
Showing a sign of a joyful dog through another adoring pet
She brought us a tennis ball just like Reva always did
Assuring us to be happy for Reva while she is on her next trip

Although our eyes are misty and our hearts are tender,
Our minds are grateful to her for the blessed years
Her love was unconditional, her bliss was so pure,
The evergreen energy she radiated sparkled everywhere

Tirelessly she would run around, jump and swim,
Use her sporty physique to fetch balls and wooden sticks
Family games of hide-seek, cricket, basketball, and hiking
Enthusiastically she would participate in each with great liking

We needed help of words to communicate with her
She would simply respond through her doting eyes of brown color
We miss those eyes, the presence, the energy, the snugs
The house seems very quiet without her irresistible innocence

Each moment we thank him for bringing her in our lives
And taking her back without any bodily pain and anguish.

Language of Summer

Summer speaks to me by waking me up early
Playing tunes of beautiful song bird melodies
Blowing cool breezes in early mornings
Creating chimes of rustling tree leaves

She speaks to me through marvels of elaborate spider webs
Through various trees’ dazzling green shades
Through fascinating designs on butterfly wings
Through flutters of humming birds and dances of dragonflies

She speaks to me by offering plums, peaches and numerous berries
And various melons, figs and delicious cherries
Growing scrumptious tomatoes in the garden for my luxury
Exhibiting vivacious blooms on rose bushes and crape myrtle trees

She speaks to me shining bright through brilliance of sunlight
Warming the afternoons and dehydrating grasses on hillsides
Crafting radiant sunsets and captivating afterglows of twilight skies
Generating buzzing mosquitoes in stillness of evenings’ dim lights

She speaks to me through an astonishing sight of a skunk mama and her adorable babies
Showing a watchful face of a raccoon sitting in an oak tree
Displaying an occasional slithering of a rattler or a snake native
Birthing numerous insects and active lizard progenies

Through magnificence of marvelous starry nights
Through frog croaks and cricket lullabies
Through precious waters of the lake
Summer speaks to me and I listen with gratitude in my heart……
