Tara Kitchen Poem
Old with wisdom they say
A long life she lived
Wrinkles tell her story well
The crow’s feet gauge her eyes
Dull, colored grey now
Without a spark in sight.
Time is for the birds
The clock has not been kind to her.
A life of wealth or poverty stricken
Neither what the story books foretell
Banished to life alone.
Her husband, gone
He was dead and gone years ago
Overcome with death, they say
Even alive, he was still dead
His destiny had been written on his face.
She must have expected it.
And so she carried on the same
Day in and day out
Setting the timer for the corn bread
Like watching life run out of breath.
Time is for the birds.
She will accompany him soon,
That timer is almost ready to sound.
She must be expecting it;
Destiny has begun to write its self on her face.
She watched him die well before he ran out of life
And now she will carry on the same.
You’d think she’d do something differently
Like take a bite of forbidden fruit
But rather than trying to live
She will simply follow suit
And live to die.
Time is for the birds.

Tara Kitchen Poem
It's been so long
Since I saw the light
I heard that song
Once, when I was a child
The melody of the martyrs
You said.
The dance of the dead.
Now, I've been so far away
The light has scarcely hit my eyes
But I heard your voice today
And I'm waiting
For the heart in me to die
Then
I will dance eternity in your arms
I will sing your name to the world
In wonder I will succomb to your childlike charms
You are my God
And today, I am your child
In the distance I see
Stars lighting the dark
Pointing the way to the King
Your face captivates my mind
(beat beat)
My heart picks up the pace
Your knocking, I'm coming
Please, dont leave me to myself.
I brought my brokenness
And laid it at your feet
Now I stand Beautiful
In the midst of a broken world
My heart is the drum
But you are the beat
You are the music playing over in my head
And I am always yours
Dancing the dance of the dead.

Tara Kitchen Poem
Oh come this fount of living water spring
These hearts aflame with life to bring
A love in you, respire to find
A chance to cast my chains aside
And run to you, will ever I be
Entangled with heart, forever and free.
Trickling with fate
This spring of joy to prostrate
Myself upon this threshing floor.
Without you, I shall never be free
Come my love and ravish me!
Covering your feet, I ask this of you
Take my heart and make me new.
Lover of this heart of mine
Take me dull but make me shine.
Redeemer, to you I do implore
Lead me from the threshing floor.

Tara Kitchen Poem
Inside
I search my self to find
The words to describe
These feelings that are raging….
And yet they escape me.
My tongue has not yet learned
The language of my heart;
But still my heart,
Filled with unlearned words
To a forbidden language,
Speaks only to you.
Love
Falls short.
More than love
Destiny and dreams.
My spirit cries deeper…
My heart beats for yours.
In sync, their rhythm shows more.
I am created to be yours
As you are mine.
Destiny gives its blessing
On these feelings inside.
Love takes on new meaning:
I am yours
And you are mine.

Tara Kitchen Poem
The clock tells all
Time to move on
And breathe easy for a while
Ready for Sunday
The dawn of the summer sun
Your face dies with winter
And my heart is rebirthed in spring
Time is hard to hold on to.
Your voice still echoes off the canyons
Hidden deep within the desert
Your words are dried up
Your heart draws blood from it’s thorns
Sucks my body dry
I waited for your fairy tale
But a girl can only sleep for so long.
I’ll find my own way from thirst
I’ll pick out your thorns
And wipe away the blood
And as I face the sun
I’ll take my chances wandering the desert
To leave you in winter’s clutch.
I’ll head into summer
And I’ll leave you lost behind spring
Still promising storybooks
With happy endings.
