You Keep Me Warm

I feel the tears wash down my face
A reminder you’re not here
I wish time would pass at a faster pace
My only wish is for you to be near

I need that calming touch only you can give
I need that look in your eyes that tells me I can make it through
I want that soft kiss that gives me a reason to live
I want to lie in your arms and be forever amazed by you

I’m counting down the days until my dream comes true
This perfect love will make it through
One day it will be just me and you
Then I’ll know exactly what to do

For now just hold on tight and never let go
We are just two cars waiting for our chance to get on that road
Our strength and power is something we must know
For this pain is a heavy load

My miracle is who you’ll always be
My heart is what you’ll always hold
When you close your eyes I’m all you’ll see
All because you keep me warm when I am cold

The Beast

Standing among heroes
This beast laughs at you
Happiness and pain that never goes
Glaring red eyes in a dark sky
Piercing claws reaching out
The belief you could fly
Transformed to doubt
For this beast has captured you
In this grasp you'll remain
Nothing is left for you to do
Say hello to an unwelcomed pain
Society and movies spoke their lies
This beast has its aid
Once again one cries
For the cost of love must be paid.

Holding On

A heart without its other half
A hand empty with nothing to hold
A smile without a reason to laugh
A hidden pain that remains untold

The days eat me
As I search for that sign of you
The tears make it impossible to see
What is it I'm supposed to do?

I recall the arms that once protected me
The heart inside me that used to beat
The golden eyes that allowed me to see
The girl who once felt complete

I close my eyes to catch a glimpse of you
Grasping the memories with all my might
I hear you whisper I love you too
Yet I turn around to face another lonely night

Tears stain your picture everyday
As I remember all you mean to me
I know you're not truly away
For in my heart you will always be

Yet once again I lay here tonight
Lost not knowing what to do
Regretting waking to morning light
For in my dreams I smile holding on to you

The First Pain

Stepping into the night
Face buried deep in her hands
Once again she will fight
Once again she will not win
For there you are
A storm cloud blocking the sun
Knowing she won't get far
She gives up once again
The hidden strength won't come out
Deeply hidden it will forever remain
As this enemy called doubt
Slowly takes this young life away
Last night the flames burned high
Yet the fire didn't erase your face
She still recalls every lie
Her life still slowly slips away
Bearing an unknown pain that produces too much fear
And a juvenile heart beating too fast
She asks why her first love won't reappear
Yet the answer is silenced by the unforgiving past
Just a shadow in the night
Fighting against the first pain
This young life will search for the light
Her final attempt to become sane
The family prays out loud tonight
For they've been there not knowing what to do
They to know what it's like to lose the light
That once whispered I love you to
