Two

your mind, your battleground 
heart racing furiously 
beating,
living,
strong. 
i know it aches,
i know you struggle to bear the weight,
but darling, keep fighting,
i’m by your side.
hold your head higher,
chest out, shoulders back,
show them what you’re made of;
because you’re diamonds, brilliant and sharp,
you’re fire, warm and protecting.
you’re alive,
and that’s worth it.
you are so so worth it.

if I could spend a day,
or a week, or a year
alone
with you,
that would never be enough. 
i want to hold you and never let go
i want to run my hands through your hair
i want to show you how you’re beautiful. 
how your smiles dance and burn in my mind
how your hands fit so well between mine 
how your heart beats so boldly
and I never want to stop hearing it.

your eyes make fire freeze,
as it cannot dare
to dance as bright. 

and your voice makes rapids still,
as they cannot bring my heart
to such a thrill. 

and your heart makes drums rest,
as they cannot understand how
to beat so bold and beautiful. 

but from you,
i will not fade.

i seek
to call my own.

violet evenings,
aegean seas,
dancing flames,
nothing
could have prepared me 
for the beauty 
of loving you. 

grins,
laughs,
scars,
tears.
painted by our love
on a canvas of us. 

and as my eyes fail,
and my mind fades,
my heart sees you

my heart loves you.

“you are every answer to my inquisitive soul”

they say, “head-over-heels,”
as if you fall all at once.
but I think love
is something that you are pulled into.
it wraps itself around you,
and you don’t notice the warmth
until it’s too late.
and one day,
they give you a smile
and you know,
“this is it. 
this is love.”

i want to wrap my arms around you,
hold your heart close,
dance with you under the pale soft moon.
i want to be with you,
feel your heart within you,
see all the things you try to hide.
i want to hold you,
i want to love you,
i want to be yours as long as you’ll have me.
let me touch your beautiful scars,
let me wipe away your tears.
i want to protect you,
i want to prove how I love you,
and I want to show you;
how amazing,
how worthy,
you are.

scars glint with gold,
and it beats in triumph.

january fourth,
the day i became yours. 
a day turns into a month,
and months become a year.
i feel like I’ve known you forever -
and yet I feel like we’ve just met.
how I fall in love with you 
so much,
so hard,
so fast,
every single time I see you.
and every time I hear your voice
it sings me a melody
to which my heart finds the beat.
