New Freedom

Much I tried to bare the bines,
As straight as I could be,
Caught laced, always, in those tangled vines.
Until – disarrayed – I broke, and heard the chimes.

You and I

You who I barely know, unconditionally love.
We are so close, You and I,
Yet we are too far apart.

What is it that persuades me to envy you?
How is it, looking at you, I see greatness?
Why are you the one I try to find?

You, I want nothing more than to please You!
To show You I can meet more than you expect!
To prove You can be proud, of me.

Me, You look at me in distaste,
My presence is never something good.
Something you would wish for.
Conversation between us, never an occourning thought.

Why do You treat me so?
Can you not see this makes me miserable?
What You do, how You do it, when You do it!
I am sad, unbearably sad.
Angry, unshakably angry.

You do this and can not see it?
Not see the pain and scars I carry with me?
Do You not hear me now, right this minuet!

Crying out to You.
Why do You walk away and disgrace me so?
And when You are here, You are not here at all.

Largest aspect of my life is You.
But where is it I fit into yours?
Have I ever been in it at all?

You, never looked in my eyes,
Tell me you care about what I do.
Would it make a difference?

Untouchable You are, untouchable I am.
You do not share Yourself with me,
I do not share myself with others.

Quiet you are, envious I am.
Pushing me away,
Further along without You I get.

So alike, You and I.
Who I barely know, unconditionally love.
Our connection thin as a hair.
I have lost You.

Who makes me angry,
Sad, miserable. The one I chase.
Who I can not talk to, can not see me,
The one that can not hear my cries.
You, I undyingly love.

Here

Within me,
Strength.
I feel it now.

How wonderful.

I feel its potential.
Driving me
To better myself.

How funny.

That this should come,
Shortly after
The trigger.

Broken

I succumb to ecstasy.
Your voice, your lips.
I quiver, then chip.

Still Want Us

It's true.
I've failed you.

I tried.
I did.
I tried to be there,
To give & provide for you.

For us.
But I've failed.

If I see you again,
I want to apologize,
And tell you I forgive you.

Recognize & help you.
But I know myself & I.

I'll see you & turn away.

Written Together

There once was a Tree,
Happy as can be.

Even though this tree had no teeth,
It would still play with its friend Keath.

One unfaithful day,
Keath never came to play.

Tree worried all through the night,
Perhaps he'd finally given Keath a fright!

For how could it be,
That Keath love a Tree.

The next morning,
Keath's mom came mourning.

Keath's stinger had been lost,
And Tree knew the cost.

Their time together will not be forgotten,
For he knew a way to have his story written.

Keath and Tree may never again be,
But alas he is free.

Birch

The forgotten ramblings of an old acorn,
Will never become anything.

A mighty and tall tree,
Will not yield to the axe below.

But it still falls.

Bad

I've left it alone.
If for no other reason,
Then it takes to much to justify.
Every time.

I've touched on it with my loved ones,
Gone over it with friends,
Conversed with colleagues
and poured over it with the passer-bys.

But as I drove my car over the bridge,
I decided - I'll leave it alone.
It's nothing to do with me anyway.

Too Late

Stumbling in paradise,
I forget the sublime.

Finding what is straight,
I’m forgetting the way.

Remembering to dance,
As leaves float from the branch.

Singing without a voice,
As the wind takes me too.

Stumbling in chaos,
I remember my family.

I have found what is true,
In chaos I hear it.

In paradise too,
As vivid – No.

Dancing within air,
I fall.

Now I remember,
It is lovely – Truly.

Fine and Fair

A solid black band
Adorned her thumb.
Golden leaves sown in.

As she walked
It swung,
From here to there.

As did my heart,
But
Not as fair.
