Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
The sultry jungle steams its vapid breath
Choking and drowning with humid hate
Life crawls and scurries struggling to and fro
A pyramid of roughly hewn green block rises
A stunning mountain out of place
Creeping vines grasp and control
Embracing greedily everything within reach
Serpents dance in the obscuring shadows
While human bones decay on piles of gold
Sacrifices to hungry elder gods
Feeding their ravenous needs
Imagined by fearful fools and priests
Etherial mist enshrouds minds
Looking into the starlit night
To find the piercing light of truth
Cold and alone, death goes unanswered

Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
The glittering gold and shimmering crystal of palatial proportions
Scarlet red carpets, as if the blood itself were loosed
Quivering pulsation's wracking the soul to it's core
Like the walls of Jericho before their fall
Armored knights, swords aloft, defending the parapets
Shaking with hidden fears, hoping for truce
Knowing in reality there must be a great toll
The whole Earth trembles at the destruction of such beauty
For which, shame must fall upon man himself
In seeking such glory, to conquer worlds, to have it all
Never content with riches and splendor
Nor one another in complete surrender
Destroying what's good, enveloping that which will destroy the soul
Self destruction on such a grand scale
Never content until he burns in Hell

Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
Candle burning, at both ends
Spend it all, fast as it spends
Despairing, dying, bleeding heart
Cry for mercy, get torn apart
Shattered world, broken sky
Cataclysm coming, we all shall die
Ticking bomb, dwindling time
Destroy the Earth, our final crime

Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
Once upon forever
I fell so hard in love
It was so unexpected
Fate gave a forceful shove
I fell right into you
Into your deep blue eyes
Deeper still into your mind
Where hidden mystery lies
Consuming now, every page
Written in your life's book
I can never put it down
I need just one more look
My heart has been entranced
By your sweet soul's true song
A dark and haunting melody
That drags me fearfully along
I'm lost now, until forever
Never more shall I return
My soul has now been branded
And in your love's fire I burn

Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
Eternal scream, into the black
I thought you'd left, But now your back
Vile Betrayal, old, old friend
Will your torment Never end?
Look for love, find only pain
Past scars ripped fresh and bleed again
First you give, then take away
You just spend, I always pay
Can't break free, I'm just broken
I need this misery to end
Reject, deny, recuse, acquit
Be gone and just be done with it
Forever alone, again bereft
The peace of death is all that's left

Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
In the bleak abyss that is my mind
I search and struggle just to find
Some tiny hope or a reason to live
Some spark or just a to give
Nothing left inside my heart
Been destroyed and blown apart
Just a phantom shell remains
A picture of it's sad remains
In the world, I seem ok
Walking, talking every day
All motion, meaningless, rote
Each poem I write, another death note
Just another day, and I'm not ok
But I keep on breathing anyway

Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
Experience has taught
Lessons been learned
Turned off that part
That bad love had burned
A strange attraction
And unexpected call
A spark of affection
Won't make me fall
It hurts too much
Love is too cruel
My soul is just kindling
And hope is the fuel
Not good enough!
Never to win!
Wasting my time
All over again
Run away, run away
As fast as I can
Pain dead ahead
Not part of my plan
Forever alone
Safe from all harm
Resisting the spell
Cast by your charm
Stop dreaming you fool
Illusions must cease
Alone is better
Solitude's peace

Gregory Huelsenbeck Poem
Shall I hope?
No! It's a lie!
Shall I care?
Just let it die
Shall I love?
Don't waste the tears
Shal I be brave?
Live in your fears
Shall I strive?
Don't even try
Shall I live?
It's time to die
