Too Old For Love

Experience has taught
Lessons been learned
Turned off that part
That bad love had burned

A strange attraction
And unexpected call
A spark of affection
Won't make me fall

It hurts too much
Love is too cruel
My soul is just kindling
And hope is the fuel

Not good enough!
Never to win!
Wasting my time
All over again

Run away, run away
As fast as I can
Pain dead ahead
Not part of my plan

Forever alone
Safe from all harm
Resisting the spell
Cast by your charm

Stop dreaming you fool
Illusions must cease
Alone is better
Solitude's peace

Alone is peace but not as fun. Nicely done and understood, unfortunately

This poem had a sensuousness that sneaked up and surprised me; this always makes for a good poem, Ibohal.

"alone is better" so I think it is wise to "run as fast as you can" away from the pain. Well done! Nice Pen.
