Apples.. beetles.. caterpillars..
daisies everywhere..
fertile ground.. hollyhocks..
Ivy jumbled kegs..
leafy mint.. nematodes..
oregano..peas..
quiet rest sunsets.. tomatoes under vines..
wheelbarrows.. xanadu yearning zeal!

beautiful bangtail
spirit untamed
racing tumbleweeds
thundering
across mesas
stallions wrestle
under night skies...

Patricia Sawyer Poem
Hope built upon the sand
as castles before the waves.
Heart filled with Puppy love
and hymns sung beneath
Daddy's watchful eye.
Nothing Holy remains
Happy a forgotten word.
Love drowned in Jack and coke
before he was thee years old.
No harmony in that house
that house not a home.
Her health a poor excuse to stay
a good excuse to leave him home.
Praying no one would see.
My hand on fire as it closed
on the frozen food.
Filling my pack ~ without looking
Hungry doesn't care
as long as it's fed.
A starving beast~ wild
Anything a feast
after three days.
Afraid of getting caught.
Pride a terrible thing.
It always grows before the fall.
Tonight we eat like a king
in a land of milk and honey.
Pigtails and peas with rice.
Never knowing he knew
till the end. ~ Grateful
that he understood.
wishing I could change things.
Ashamed of my actions.
Sometimes sand castles fall.
Holding a feverish hand I
laughed until I cried.
I should have thrown down
that foolish pride. I could have had
steaks and chops too.
I still have the old key
He passed to me.
I hold it in my hand sometimes.
The old freezers long gone.
I Hold on to it remind me.
Sometimes Sand castles fall.
There isn't much a parent
misses. Hidden in our eyes.
Remember that and remember too
that The good stuff is locked away
But that Daddy shares with all!

Patricia Sawyer Poem
Soft, pink satin,
Baby blue with lace.
Underwear, underwear every place.
Hot red silk
Plain white cotton
Underwear here even I had forgotten.
Black and slinky,
Is that a thong?
Underwear like that almost seems wrong.
Blue with Purple polka dots
Roses scattered over lime.
Underwear like that could never, ever be mine!

Patricia Sawyer Poem
One
Man
cries out
soundlessly,
tears of agony.
Reflections dance on a black pool
Life ravages slowly. Taking a small bite daily.
Desperation eventually becoming mankind's dearest despicable friend.

Patricia Sawyer Poem
Sidewalks and skate parks;
Old swimming pools drained.
Kickflips and split lips;
young ankles sprained.
Aerials and Varials
and being called a punk.
Tail taps and grip tape;
and tricks that take spunk.
Exercise that is ramped up;
balance in a curve.
Backflips and Bearings
now don't loose your nerve!
Ollies and wallplants
it's no passing fad.
acid drops and nosestalls
Not just boys being bad!
Ramps under carports
and falling and pain.
Daring and doing tricks
again and again
Inclines; expression
and Five Oh grinds
Nollies and ledges
and friendship that Binds.
Go away Mr. Policemen: Just let us be.
Skateboarding is not a crime!
So let us Skate free!

Patricia Sawyer Poem
Many miles away
you sit in a truckstop
filled with women.
~ And I worry!
They feed you steak
and smell like french perfume
they refill your cup.
~ And I worry!
You look down from your window
at their mini-skirted thighs
zooming along the interstate.
~ And I worry!
The phone rings
late at night
and you're away~ somewhere.
~ And I worry!
But you need not worry!
Cause when the last load is delivered
and your eighteen wheels roll toward home.
I'll be there waiting.
For the love of my Trucker Husband!
