Conflict

Locked behind a field of stars,
Hidden behind battle scars,
Living only to contend,
What is righteous without end.

Stare profusely at the time
When dreams had matter more sublime
Than existence in a shallow climb

Where hopes are shattered
Made a joke
And empty promises are choked
Beyond the point of no return
And those who dare they wind up spurned.

Yet somewhere in this blinding vision,
The spirit of a knight once christened
Emerges from behind the stars
Waging battle from afar
.
To those who trample on the weak
And those who cower under meek
Obscenities meant to deny
Aspirations to a tie.

Amidst the field of shattered glass
Betwixt the blades of blood-stained grass
Knights of valor lie in wait
For the oncoming barrage of hate

Fitted armor and a sword
Weapons only of a sort
That principles of virtue cry
Impediments towards those who strive
To hinder what is right and true
And places evil into view.

Where chaos discontented reigns
And knowledge serves of only pain
Emerges steady into lieu
Creatures aimed to misconstrue.

Armed with weapons of a sport
Meant to maim and to contort
Complacency…create in a word
A kingdom of their own accord.

Filled with displeasure… discontent
Rejecting faith as it was meant
To conquer nothing above all
Just eliminate this squall
Between men of different creed
Which only one there shall succeed.

Now the two opposing sides
Growing nearer in their strides
Each one bellowing his cries
Of righteousness and chide
Both caught up amongst their lies
That either side is to subside
Till their very last is tried
And only silence coincides.

Amongst the carcasses struck down
On the field lay all around
Remnants of the dead are found
And only silence is the sound

Of a battle that was waged
Since the origin of age.

Yet…from atop the tattered skies
On the field there does arise
One survivor from each side

Each too tired to discern
The longing to return
Where the lost once knew as home
And honor those who’ve lost and mourn

Going each one his own course
Till they gather enough force
And their paths become traversed
When the next battle is posed.

Remembrance

As the tragedy of night transcends
And the memory of twilight ends
Flashes of a visage gone
Deeds of those who’ve cherished long
Dance within thoughts in my head
Away from truth which we might dread.

So long hold we our cherished dear
Rejecting thoughts or any fear
That may confront with any harm
Towards those contained within our hearts

Unfortunate the truth we dread
For in the end it is what’s said
When those we love we can’t defend
From tragedy already met.
Although our feelings thoughts to cry
Tis better this we don’t deny
For understand there is a time
To mourn…no greater loss sublime
.
And as you ponder how to fend
Your greatest council comes from them
Their memories, their hopes, their dreams
Are part of you and so you’ll see
That within us they have survived
Providing us the will to strive.

Rationale

Compelled by indignation
At the sentiments I feel,
For one who’s hand as sacred
As heaven’s speech to ear,
Hate and lamentation
Dispel my every word,
For being such a victim
Of a love that is unheard,
To one of such humility
Unaccustomed to the game,
Of longing with desires
For what ought not be attained,
And fearful…very fearful
Of the bliss that shall ensue,
For all happiness must end
When the chapter will conclude,
That I am but a man
Who lives virtuous a life,
To bring her any anguish
Sets all ideals to strife.

Fate

Never known tranquility,
Thus as you display
A beauty shown so unbeknown,
Longing comes my way,
Lying there beside me,
Only heaven has the right,
To behold such a visage,
So ethereal in sight.
And so I lay here watching,
As the notions pace my mind,
Thoughts to comprehend,
As to why she chose my side.

Loneliness

My heart has gone afoul
Compelling me this way,
Believing that I was immune
Proving much to my dismay.
Distressed and unaware
As to what this may imply,
I sought divine direction
Hoping that I could deny,
The nature of these feelings
Bringing woes onto an end.
And bring me forth to safety
Forcing havoc to a fend.
Unfortunate the answer
Heaven’s messengers convey,
For in light it is the truth
Though it‘s much to my dismay,
It appears my heart has fallen
For a beauty from above,
Whose visage makes me quiver
At the notion of her love,
And so I am perplexed
The course of action to partake,
For either choice I opt for
My soul do I forsake.
