Ode To New York City

Oh, pretty city you shine so bright,
Your wonderful lights are quite the site.
Your streets overflow with fascinating faces,
And they all move so fast like they are in races.

Oh, pretty city your tall buildings stand,
You make me feel like an ant in this big wonderful land.
Your big park filled with the most beautiful greens,
I’d never want to leave here by any means.

Oh, pretty city and to think youre even more beautiful at night,
Walking through the streets is like a dream underneath the moonlight.
And though some people may find you overcrowded or gritty,
I do love you, New York City.

Calm Paradise

Along what once was warm and soft is cold,
My toes are being buried as I walk.
I see the blackened sky and stars so bold,
No one here talking, not even seaguls squawk.

The crash and boom of waves onto the sand,
The sound echoes through the entire beach.
Without people, the beach just looks so bland.
Along the beach sand sticks like a leech.

The salty air is sticking in my hair,
Seashells that have washed up sitting near my feet.
Everything is beautiful, no compare.
So much to look at, so I take a seat.

I watch the ocean and the stars and think,
This will all be in the past in just a blink.

How the Butterfly Got Its Wings

Many years ago, the Earth was plagued with disease and sadness. There was only a drop of hope left in the world. Gaea, goddess and mother of all things beautiful, sought to create a symbol of hope. She journeyed down to Earth to find the most pathetic of creatures and give it a rebirth. She traveled to the desert, to the ocean, and to the forest. That’s when she saw it, a lonely caterpillar slowly making its way across the Earth. Gaea took the caterpillar and traveled with it back to the kingdom and called upon others to help her.
Soteria, the goddess of safety and salvation, bestowed a rebirth to the caterpillar. He will come back with wings and stronger than ever. She will give the creature the ability to blend in with its new wings, and for there to be poison in its offspring so they will not be eaten. Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, turned the caterpillars wings into rich colorful works of art. These will make people stop and admire the creatures beauty.
Gaea brought the creature back to Earth. Little by little the population of the new creature grew. The gods and goddess watched as more and more people admired the beauty and watched the rebirth of the caterpillar. And slowly the hope grew on Earth just a little bit more.

Life In Music

In my dream I was in a record player,
On and track that kept spinning,
The music blasting from all directions,
Then it stops and everything went silent and still.

The Spell of Love

Long ago in a land not near,
There was a young man whose looks made people sneer.
Through the whistling forest he went to find a sorceress out west,
“Sorceress please make me look the best!”.

He shot up and became much taller,
In town everyone but his true love looked at him like a silver dollar.
Her lack of attention made him stressed,
He ran into the forest and said, “ sorceress please make me look the best.”

The sorceress confused saw the sadness in his eyes,
He said “she still doesn't notice me, give my looks a revise.”
The sorceress was unsure and wanted to detest,
Then he said, “sorceress please make me look the best.”.

He strutted into town and gave his love a wink,
She rolled her eyes and turned without another blink.
He ran into the forest and sadness and anger he expressed,
“Sorceress please make me look the best.”.

She complied and he went into town much stronger,
She didn't even look at him any longer.
He ran into the forest that he started to detest,
“Sorceress please make me look the best.”.

“She still doesnt love me is this some kind of test?”,
“Sorceress please make me look the best.”.
She looked at him and he went back to being pint-sized.
He started to become angry, and that is when he realized.

Soul Search

My soul yearns for so much more,
It floats like a leaf in the breeze,
But sometimes life is such a bore

I wish through the sky I could soar
Or buzz around like the happy bees.
My soul yearns for so much more.

Most days are feeling like a chore,
I am trying to go by each day though with ease,
Sometimes life is such a bore.

They say this life is more than anyone could ask for,
I wish I wouldn’t waste so much time searching for life and time would freeze,
My soul yearns for so much more.

There are so many things in life that people adore,
But I am stuck here wondering when I will experience these,
Sometimes life is such a bore.

I wish I could find what I am looking for,
But I have yet to find it and life feels like a tease,
My soul yearns for so much more,
Sometimes life is such a bore.

The Pearl and the Guitar

In a park on an old dreary day, the poor old guitarist sits and strums on his beloved instrument. A young woman, who comes from a wealthy family, walks by as she is dressed in pearls. She heard the sound of the music and stopped by to see the guitarist play.
“Where did you ever learn to play such beautiful music?” asked the woman.
The old man smiled and said,”My father taught me when I was a young lad. He was such a talented musician. I used to just sit and stare at him as he played and then one day he taught me.”
The woman gave a slightly sad look and said,”That was like me with my mother in the kitchen. I wanted to learn and do everything she did.”
“Do you still cook with your mother?” asked the old man.
“No, she passed on. But one day I will teach my children just as she taught me.” she said hopeful.
The old man let out a cough. The woman realized he was wearing nothing but old scraps in the winter time.
“Don't you have anywhere to be, young lady? It's too cold for you to be out here listening to an old man like me.” he laughed.
“What about you, sir. Don't you have anywhere to go?”
With a big grin he said,”This right here is where I have to be. It may not be a fancy house and I may not have fancy clothes, but I do have my music and I have my memories with my family. That is all I need in life.”
The old man then continued strumming on his guitar again. The woman dressed in pearls started to walk away when she saw his guitar case open. She stopped and thought of what she could give him. She then took out her pearl earring that had been worth thousands of dollars and placed them in him guitar case, then she went on home.

Starry Night

I look at the sky waiting for a new day.
The moonlight is shinning upon me.
Every star is perfect in every way.
The beauty in the sky brings me glee.

Fear of Flight

I close my eyes and don’t look down.
The plane shakes in the storm,
The captain assures us we’re okay.

I want to be back on the ground,
But two more hours left to go.
I close my eyes and don’t look down.

Out the window, people stare at the lightning,
We try not to worry,
The plane shakes in the storm.

People begin to panic as we shake,
I grab the armrests on my chair and close my eyes,
The captain assures us were okay.

Rose

once there was a pretty rose,
Wrapped around a garden hose.
Looking absolutely perfect in every way.
Bringing hope to a new day.
