Mike Toole Poem
A Chance Encounter
A chance encounter on the net
I celebrate the day we met
I made you smile, you made me cry
You made me laugh, I made you sigh
You made me proud to be your friend
But life is short, time can't be bought
It weaves a path, through hills and dales
Through highs and lows on windblown sails
But my Bonnie Girl, of this I’m sure
You were the master weaver of that trek
and wove that path with strands of gold
with every ounce of joy you gave
given freely and never sold
But we can never stop the sands of time
Fate brought you to this place to be
You’ll always be my Bonnie Girl
and GOD will set you free
And Ill never rue the day we met
That chance encounter on the net

Mike Toole Poem
I hope this letter, to you, a stranger
Becomes a letter to a friend
As we travel on this journey to its end
Yes we’ll start off as mere strangers
Trying to share the selfsame track
And what matter, if you stray a little
For I'll just lift you up and bring you back
I will steady you if you stumble
Catch you if you fall
Hold your hand when you get weary
Guide and protect you through it all
Oh I pray you learn to love life with a passion
With a zest and inner smiles
For that in truth, is the secret fuel
That will drive you countless miles
If loving life is too hard right now
If deep worry spreads across your brow
And your health is not as good at it might be
Well don’t fret my new - found friend
Just stay with me until the end
And that youthfulness will bloom again you’ll see
Together we will tackle any fear
Banish doubts when they are near
Grow a smile when one is lacking
For you have always got my backing
I’ll help you always go the extra mile
Help you scale mountaintops in style
Then I sincerely promise you will find
Life will love you back in kind
In more ways than you would ever guess
Adding life to years and years to life no less
For your circumstances always follow thought
And a life worth living is never cheaply bought
I’ll keep you on the straight and narrow
If you will but let me take the lead
As if we stick together on the journey
We cannot fail but to succeed
And no longer will we be strangers
But partners till the end
Now that’s a heart felt promise to a friend

Mike Toole Poem
She has abounding beauty and long may it stay,
Far deeper than looks,
It keeps aging at bay,
For she is a fair maiden,
The cream of the crop,
As sweet as ice cream, with a cherry on top,
She seeks but a man to complete her life,
To stand by her side through trouble and strife,
But good men are rare as rare as fine gold,
And she needs one quickly before she grows old,
A man of good breeding, to make her smile every day,
Who will bring rays of sunshine and make clouds fade away,
Oh what should she do as ‘Players' abound,
She just wants a man who’s as sound as a pound,
Well here is the secret, go heed my advice,
Just find a man who is much more than nice,
You find a man who is not so unkind,
As to make love to your body, before making love to your mind,
Talk about carts before horses, talk about gain before pain,
Such habits of men can drive women insane,
Yes the main course should be mind, through the meeting of hearts,
As two become one, now that’s where it starts,
But men are so vain, so they suffer in pain,
But suffer they do and suffer they should,
Until they understand, they must cut out the hurt,
They must savor the main course, long before the desert.

Mike Toole Poem
Your teacher always said in math,
You wasn't very bright,
As when you did your adding up,
You never got it right.
And though it appears so very sad,
Twas teacher didn't know how to add,
After all these years, to your delight,
It's evident you are quite bright,
You see your math was always right,
For it happens just to be,
That if you combine a loverly Lisa,
With one fine looking fella,
The product is an angel,
A precious gift called Ella,
So the moral of this story,
And it was always meant to be,
Is that teacher was so very wrong,
As one and one makes three.

Mike Toole Poem
A message sent across the miles to raise in you a thousand smiles,
Well if not a thousand then a few for sure, then later perhaps a thousand more,
Like a message in a bottle to brighten up your day,
To make you think of good times past, cast lonesome thoughts away,
Perhaps a love has gone forever, but great memories you keep,
Once love is found its never lost as long as you can bear the cost,
The cost is just to give that love away, to everyone you meet,
Till one fine day, a while from now, you’ll surely love again,
And find another love, to cast away the shadows and drive away the pain,
We never know, nor can we tell, we just have to wait and see,
And heed the immortal words in song of Eva Cassidy,
'Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true’,
Its just life’s trials, so let them pass on by,
Just aim for the stars and you’ll surely reach the sky,
Keep your attitude of gratitude with you every day,
And cast that love you have within, to all, in every kind of way.

Mike Toole Poem
If I Could Read Your Mind
If I could read your mind my dear, as kindred spirits do
I'd take you back in time my love, to when cupid's arrow flew
Then to that time, a not too distant past, when your world fell apart
A time your love departed and left a shattered broken heart
I'd mend your heart with so much care, make sad memories take their flight
Then bring you back to present times and a future oh so bright
For love is often bitter - sweet and you deserve a second chance
To have cupid's arrow take flight once more, fill life with sweet romance.
But I can truly read your mind my love and what a tale it tells,
Those longings deep inside your soul need far more than wedding bells
You need a rock to lean on, to stay always by your side
To carry you in times of need, fill you with so much pride
You need a man, a real man, not the ones that you've been sold
But one who'll stay forever young in mind and stop you growing old
One to make you laugh, as you've never laughed before
All it takes from you my love, courage to open up the door
To take a risk and leave to chance that once again your soul might dance
Your spirits soar so high to glide as heart meets heart as hearts collide

Mike Toole Poem
The face in the mirror
Looks back at me
It’s not a face
I’m happy to see
It’s withered and aged
Like a wrinkled old prune
My expiry date’s past
God, please let me die soon
My bones they do creak
Like an old rocking chair
My aches and my pains
Throw me into despair
They can burn my old carcass
That'll give others more room
My expiry date’s past
God, please let me die soon
My eyes don’t see clearly
Just a shadowy haze
My precious equipment down under
Has seen better days
I’m a sad lonely soul
And a deaf old buffoon
My expiry date’s past
God, please let me die soon
My ticker ain’t ticking
The way tickers should
Doc says the plaque in my heart
Is restricting the blood
It’s a sick ticking time bomb
Oh dear I’m full of doom
My expiry date’s past
God, please let me die soon
My plumbing below
Sounds like an orchestral disaster
And to get to the washroom
I now need to run faster
Maybe put me down quickly
Then some will be over the moon
My expiry date’s past
God, please let me die soon
I wheeze all day long
My chest feels aflame
The doc in his wisdom
Says the smokings to blame
I could not climb a molehill
And I look like a balloon
My expiry date’s past
God, PLEASE let me die soon

Mike Toole Poem
If we ever meet I will bring you a rose
And a box of milk chocolate
Then we’ll see how it goes
If we ever hold hands as I walk by your side
I will give yours a squeeze
As you fill me with pride
If we ever kiss, you can stand on your toes
And as I look in your eyes
We’ll see if love grows
If you ever hurt, then we’ll hurt as two
For that my sweet, is what true lovers do
If our hearts collide, I will fill yours with joy
For I’m a real man and no longer a boy
If we fall for each other, then I’ll never be so unkind
As to make love to your body
Before making love to your mind
But if fate makes a choice, to have love pass us by
We’ll stay great friends forever, till the day that I die
For my sweet, although love’s path is steep
The truth sets us free and I have promises to keep

Mike Toole Poem
I’m self confined with another
In this loveless prison cell
It's the height of my suffering
Like a taste of pure hell
I’ve got to break out
I’ve got to break free
As my soul needs to dance
If it’s just only with me
My friends don’t understand
For all these longings inside
Are not on view to the world
As from the world, I must hide
They say how lucky I am
What a great life i lead
All those trappings from money
But I just want to be freed
They see my joyful facade
But it’s just a mask that I wear
I feel like screaming to them all
"But I just want someone to care"
"I need someone to care"
With him, my soul is so hungry
I’m starving inside
I want someone to quench me
But he just sucks me dry
The walls just confine me
As he shackles my heart
As he smothers my joy
And drives us further apart
But I was never his love
Never walked by his side
He was never a soulmate
In whom I could confide
For a kindred spirit
Never makes you feel small
But as large as the heavens
Oh I just want it all
Not the trappings of ‘stuff’
Of that, I’ve had enough
But the freedom to breath
To inhale life’s pure bliss
I want to break out
For it's this that I miss

Mike Toole Poem
The great love of my life passed me by
But I’ll still love her till the day that I die
She made a tragic mistake and now knows
Exchanged love for mere bangles and bows
For the heart is a most delicate thing
It can soar like a bird on the wing
Shout to the heavens and sing
Or it can dive to the depths of despair
If not nurtured from birth with great care
How I long for those joys of the past
How I pine that those days did not last
But they are gone like the lost sands of time
Their departure a most terrible crime.
But I must forgive those who forged such great sorrows
For they’re gone and they have no tomorrows
And pardon my love for her part
And nurture her innocent heart
I will not harbor the sorrows and anger of mine
For therein lies a much greater crime
But rejoice in the lost love I’ve found
And treasure our memories with joy
For I am the true love of hers
Now a wise man and no longer a boy
