Bestfriend

You knock on my door in the middle of the night
I let you in and you hug me tight
You cry in front of me and tell me you’re over
I tell you it’s okay, you lay your head on my shoulder

Things have always been this way
You come to me and I make you feel okay
I’ve always been there to give you a hand
Coz I’m, as you always say, your “friend”

You tell me the things the two of you do
You say how much she really means to you
I listen whole-heartedly with a smile on my face
Although secretly, I’m wishing it was me in her place

You inform me when you and her go out on a date
And you whimper about her coming in a little late
I’ve always wondered what is it she has as a plus
When I know I can always love you better than she does

You tell me everytime the two of you kiss
You count the things she has that you miss
I just listen, coz I know there’s nothing else I can do
But secretly dream I am that one with you…

You asked me how much you mean to me
I answered you with not-so-pure honesty
I told you I’d be happy wherever you may be
But I’m not, coz you’re happy with her, not with me…

You told me you found out her love wasn’t real
And I cried coz I knew how betrayed you feel
I can’t do anything but give you a light back pat
As I secretly whisper “I won’t hurt you like that…”

And now, for the zillionth time, you’re coming to me
Telling me you love her but you’re setting her free
Listen, coz I’ve been dying to ask this one thing in my head
Don’t you see that I love you; can’t you just love me instead?

All Along

He looked at her with his dark brown eyes
She answered with an empty stare
His heart was weeping, in his eyes it showed
But she simply didn't care.

He walked around, passing by her
Hoping she would see
That the hurt she caused in this poor boy's heart
Was killing him painfully.

He was close to her, perhaps a foot between
But there's no word he could say
He wanted to kiss her, show her he loved her
But he knew it was not okay.

He walked away, took distance from her
And just kept it all inside
He thanked himself for doing it
Coz on that spot, he could've died.

He was happy just seeing her with a smile on her face
Happily dancing through the night
He, too, was smiling, but deep inside
He knew he wasn't alright.

He wanted to hold her and take her away
But there was nothing much he could do
He was fed up of thinking of any other way
How he wished this wasn't true.

It was painful for him to see her go
The pain's more than it might seem
But he knew where to stand, he knew his place
She didn't belong to him.

He loved her all his life, she was lucky indeed
But this girl just couldn't see
And I was there, watching all along
And wishing the girl was me...
