Work Clothes
You came in late from work.
I know it was hard today in the mud.
People get hurt on the job…
You are safe, my prayers are answered.
You smell of sweat, and dirt… like the deep Earth.
Coal dust, black embedded into everything,
part of you, part of me, part of the couch.
Brave man, I love you.
You take care of us, and I know
“He” has his hand on you.
I finish setting the table and bring you a beer.
I don’t like that you drink, but I bring it anyway.
This is your house, I understand and it is not an issue.
I only worry, when you ask for two or three or…
Not tonight. You smiled. You are happy.
Things must have gone well.
My heart can dance. I will turn on the old radio.
I will set the mood. I will try hard to make you remember…
exactly why you go into the darkness…
for me, for you…for us!
God keep you safe.
Amen.
“Yeah
That’s why
I can’t go
To work
Right now
For my disability
Was right
Paranoid Schizophrenic
hold on i have to hide
they're coming
its not mean to be ateam
its part of the dream
to fight for that right
some say your insane
we must hand to hand
and get it better
WORK TOGETHER
FOR CHANGE
It was 43 years ago today
Herman Miller brought the cube our way
Ending open seating in the bay
It’s the Office Cubicles’ Birthday
Without the cubicle where would we be
Open space as far as you could see
Everybody watching you and me
It’s the Office Cubicles’ Birthday
The cubicle means so much to us
They heard us laugh, they heard us cuss
Always here without a fuss
It’s the Office Cubicles’ Birthday
We should celebrate this blessed event
After all the time in cubes we’ve spent
And it’s up to you to give consent
It’s the Office Cubicles’ Birthday
So here’s to Herman Miller
With all our gratitude
May he spend all his eternity
In a 7 by 8 cube!
Mdailey
Happy birthday to my cubicle
That 8 by 7 space
That’s stood by me through thick and thin
Here in this office place
Squeaky Clean Floors of Teak
All clean and shiny is my teak
When they step on my
Glossy black my heart leaps
Joyous smiles deep down my timbers leak
You can see your face and physique
When you look at me
Don’t walk on me with your dirty feet
Shhh….. Whisper when you speak
If you’re real quiet you’ll hear me squeak.
I can taste its rewards like freshly made pancakes
In this type of field I am like the butter fizzing in the pan
But I refuse to melt away. I refuse to give up my chance.
Even though at times it may seem hard to seek,
I'll never let it get away from me. I'll mark it down on
the calender like it's my anniversary.
I can feel it bubbling inside me
like the formation of a pancake in a pan.
And the images they run through my head
like an unborn child's sonogram.
I toss my dreams up into the sky with a
invisible magical Spatula and wait for victory.
Because just like these cakes that are about to
be devoured I know I've got it in me.
members of teamsters

doing the job right
assuring quality and quanitity production

Tribute To
International Workers Day
Speedily sprouted, sheltering shrubs
Yes from sun-like Sirs
Planning to fertilize our farms
And mechanizing micro melons
‘966 found them chopped
Them the Irokos
Ironically from well meant members
Yet again, they too felled
In their quest to unite and grow
Our hearts aches, bleeding and saturated
Yet our mouth guffaw
For our mother had lads
Sons that could lay inert
That others may sprout
