~ A Robin's Sweet Voice ~
I woke just before dawning
and looked to the East
A gray sky was forming
sunrise had ceased
Nor twinkle of starlight
nor moon did I spot
The day would dawn cloudy
dark with worry 'twas fraught
Just then on the trellis
a robin's sweet voice did I hear
Piercing the dark clouds
with proclamations of cheer
So I zipped up my jacket
and picked up my pace
My heart bursting with gladness
~ a smile 'cross my face

Solitude
poem
Lionel Derbyshire
Silently the words
Tell me something
What am I feeling
No yelling .. only
Picture's rolling by
A mute is broken
And thoughts
Are rolling in
Of broken times.
New days are comin ..
With new cravings.
Gone by midnight's
Are replaced by
That awful creepy sleep
Feared and loathed.
Then the little voice speaks
Tommorow is another day.
Talk in solitude
With great exclamations
To feel distinctively
The warm up
In sounds of silence
This comfort of solitude.
Silhouettes, blending and beating
Rhyming right ..
Clickety click .. click
Clickety clack .. clack
Clickety tick .. tick.
Chat chat
The cricket
Sing song of mumble
Hum alone.
Must not be boring
And shine like
Twinkle twinkle
Too whoo wee doo
Too whoo wee doo
Voices in harmony
The midnight owl
Strumming inside ..
Hateful phone ringing ..
Grumble ..
Miserable log.
" Hope nobody died. "
Solitude gone ..
Was good in the cleft
And left alone.
Fleeting or flirtatious
Angry or gracious
The eyes are no true measure
Of the mood of a man
Eyes are bald- faced liars
No more than mere mirrors
That reflect only what they expect
That another demands
They can harden or soften
In a mere blink of an eye
As constant in change
As clouds in the sky
They can roll in their sockets
In mocking dismay or
Twinkle as do gold lockets
And seem ever so gay
Yes, tears seem sincere
When they pool in the eyes
But in truth I fear they’re
No more than deceptive disguise
But… The mouths! Ah now there’s
A horse of an entirely different colour
As long as you pay no heed
To the words that they say and sigh
For a mouth e’en tightly closed
Cannot help but to expose
The true feelings
That lie behind those
…lying eyes…
For a lady who had a twinkle in her eye and one of the most powerful reading voices I have ever heard...
When Alex Lascelles
Did the readings at church
Her deep ancient voice
Like a dignified drum
Sounded like God
by Gail
Twinkle
The stars shine bright
Her words
Sung on par
Like piano keys played through this night
What I was searching for
I could never find in this world
Because gods live in Heaven
Where the stars hang at night,
And the moon is set among them;
Even the clouds move above me,
Migrating, shifting as they do,
Yet, without a chance of rain.
Still I call out to their fleeting,
Though my voice will never reach them,
Even in the first heaven.
So, I cry out in the night
When the streets of gold shine
Through the foundation of Heaven,
But my words are as the silence
As I gaze upon each point of light,
Which twinkle in variableness,
A new one brighter every night.
The same star, twice, I cannot find,
And in much frustrated hope,
My shattered voice is heard
From within the third heaven,
And enlightened I look around.
To find an angel? I will not
Because people live here on earth.
Her fair gentle nature reflected parental tenderness
White wicker furniture, skillfully crafted Indian carpets
Most acceptable presents of b;ue fine bone china
We begin to splice together the useful fragments.
Meekness and forgiveness charactarise a woman
of equal taste and delicacy braided in fine ribbons.
Morning breakfast aromas , activity on fine linen
shows a broken in the bud youth of gentle spirit.
Love , is the childish divinity of fresh-faced youths.
Broken voice flames a warm passion and desire.
Sights and sounds of a hearbeat like a drum solo
in a small town honoured occassion appeared
before him with tembling and terrified rose cheeks.
His voice harmony itself, twinkle in his eye, reined
his horse close to the carriage and doffed his hat.
Duty made passion a virtuous June wedding.
Exquisite decorum with exceedingly lively chatter.
Sharing their hearts joy in a banquet of celebration
congratulating the new couple on future happiness.
