Premium MemberUntamed Drives Ruin Lives

The child allowed to have their way,
And do whatsoever they may,
Who is not taught to have restraint,
Develops traits that their life taint.

The rule of appetite destroys,
And undermines life’s lasting joys.
It makes the human being a slave,
To whatever his passions crave.

Instead of reason taming urge,
Unruly urges reason scourge.
The man becomes a boorish brute,
Unanchored from his soulish root.

The home should be a training ground,
Where order reigns and love abounds.
Here children learn how they should live,
As parents sound instructions give.

When parents fail their job to do,
Society pays a high price too,
with citizens who lack the traits
That makes a nation truly great.

So many lives are ruined wastes,
Destroyed by drugs that make minds race.
Because of lack of self-control,
Men wreck their lives and lose their souls.

The quest for power, wealth, and fame,
Becomes for some a raging flame.
They live their life to make a name,
But often their life ends in shame.

Don’t let your body rule your brain,
let brain over your passions reign.
Make it your goal to become good,
To be the best a human could.

A Lover's Torment

You came like a blazing fire
Scorching everything I knew
Through the flames, I admire
With a love that's new

Talking with a blissful voice
Melting my heart with a fierce heat
Overtaking me without a choice
Knowing I could never cheat

My thoughts travel towards you
Tearing my soul in two
Waiting for the soothing dew
The lines of love becoming askew

Tormented by your touch
Fighting my one desire
I've never hurt this much
Waiting for this to backfire

Should I leave you behind
And live with my regret
To end this soulish bind
Ending my hearts secret

Goodbye, my love
This blaze is gone
Waiting for this hole to move
But my love for you will not be undone.

Moonstone Blue

Deep inside the soulish blue,
Moonstone shines,
Secrets held from ancient times,
Strange connections,
Locked between the pearly veil.
Mysteries powers,
Create rhythmic tides,
Connecting the blue stone
With the moon,
Stilling and calming
Protection from oceans wide,
Beliefs in its preciousness,
Bright blue color of the skies
Romances first love,
Looking into her eyes,
Reflect the inner life,
Sleeping through dead of night,
Moving into unseen realms
Dreaming dreams,
Secrets of the universe,
Emotions of the blue,
Fetching hope,
Life and lessons,
Dancers with artistic expressions,
Healing from depression,
Moonstone positiveness
All in the balance.
Growth and strength,
Full of passion.

Tin Man

Wise men speculate, philosophers ask,
“Does love exist? Or is it survival
Mechanism of the species: hormones,
Chemicals, perceptions or illusions?
But those who question need to ask poets,
We, practitioners of the soulish arts,
Intuitive doctors of discov’ry,
Know the covalent strength of love-bound hearts.
Try to loose it, break it, crush it, and life
Falls fundamentally fractured, pierc’d;
Just pretend, make believe cannot produce
This devastation. The Tin Man knew he
Had obtain’d his heart as Dorothy click’d
Her heels good-bye. “I know it’s real. It hurts!”

Edenic

Upon these banks where You fashion’d my soul,
Please pronounce again your Divine blessing,
“It is not good for Dave to be alone!”
Upon my soul, this ongoing freedom
To be my own man, set my schedule,
Stare through my four walls while writing sonnets
Has grown old. Re-create my soul to give
Itself unreservedly to her heart.
Knead the clay comprising me to remove
Stones of self-absorption and impatience,
Stubborn insistence that my will prevail.
Give me a generous heart that invests
In her success. Purify my soulish
Pools that she sees Your reflection through me.
