With a whoop dee doo and a whip dee day
I saved my sweet bunny from an owl today
The predator left angry, I said “shoo! Go away!”
The butterflies followed, for they love to play.
All you British girls, you're surely a treat
With soft and warm chatter that can't be beat
You toot my whistle
I fire my missile

To New Year’s Eve, I say - big whoop!
What’s there to celebrate?
A year of stress and fear and loss
Which may not yet abate.
Of course there were some ups as well -
New babies born and time
To spend with grandkids, kith and kin,
To read and write some rhyme.
But overall, with Covid’s cloud
Still hanging up above,
Let’s hope that in the coming year
We’ll block it out with love.
