with down-to-earth & in the dirt

of cheap interiors &music hall

The October mist descends
Gently and quietly
Like a stranger
But unobtrusive
It brings a fresh light
Upon summer's lost end

Prose Poetry
Building castles out of stardust--
and sprawling cities lit by starlight.
The arranger stands on
geometric borders-
unobtrusive to the rebel's dream.

Blank verse
All day
I have been
searching
for myself.
And there I was,
unobtrusive,
watching on,
keeping quiet
under a loud
chatter of thoughts.
I quite often
get lost.

It sits, unwavering, on my desk
a relic from a by-gone era
Lowest of low tech
its on/off chain unobtrusive
Classic lines, bronze weight
solid as King Arthur's fortress
My initials traced in its dust
Lights up my nights
~ Lets me write

Man has reached what a plight !
Facebook a social networking site !
What does one get by browsing though profiles?
All it does is only defiles!
People keep logging in and logging out
Is it some form of sex bout ?
Why make a show of life on a site
Are we trying to fill up some empty hole inside?
Let the sails of my life gently unfurl
In my tight cozy unobtrusive world

Couplet
Bright red flash against
the snow-filled trees,
the cardinal comes to rest
in a shower of white.
He trembles on a limb,
black eyes darting,
searching for something
to eat in the bleak landscape.
Nearby, his mate waits
patiently, unobtrusive in
her somber browns.
He flits, one branch
to another, still for a minute.
Then he takes wing,
and the streak of red
momentarily brightens
the world of white.

I write because I need to
It's what I have to do
Put feelings down on paper
Thoughts I have towards you
It doesn't stop the longing
That ever present ache
But it helps to write them down because
I know my love's not fake
And if somebody reads this
They'll know there lived a man
Who loved a pretty Bluebird
Who's middle name was Ann
Unshowy, unobtrusive
In whisper, not in shout
But loved he did this Bluebird
Until his days ran out

My love for you is hidden
Though well you know it's there
Right now a guest unbidden
But like surrounding air
Not visible through eyesight
Not tangible to touch
Yet present and most certain
Ubiquitous as such
And though no one can see it
There's a sign that gives away
Its existence unobtrusive
For just you it will display
Come close now, look into my eyes
There's shapes my love imparts
They only form there when you look
My pupils turn to hearts

Of the legumes family
They call it Albizzia Lebbeck
From Africa, her homeland
John VI took her, to Brazil
Where her bark for tanning
And for the timber industry
Her forage foliage
Are self-donations
Pleasant appearance
It is their foliage, with flowers
So unobtrusive; the fruit of African flavors
That the number and size
Are yellow, slender pods
However, very elongated
Like long has become a lesson
The overnight that lasted
Five hundred years of slavery

Auburn locks drape shoulder haphazardly
Spread upon your sack
An unobtrusive vantage
You bear no covering and are at ease
Linens scattered all about you
Neither rhyme nor reason and amidst no burden
How it baffles me
How you perform on the inner
Yet it’s your shell which vexes most unexpectedly
Your skin adorned with ink
Ink I wield to tell a tale
We, one and the other, reveal our sagas employing ink
My branded Princess
