Dear Soldier

Dear Soldier,

I recently received your letter
I thought you wouldn't write back
But now I fell much better
Things are great with me
Hope things are good with you
Just wanted to touch base
Write me when the war is through

Too Far For Face To Face

When relatives and friends are
Much too far for face to face,
A few words through the ether’s
All you need for touching base.

Of course, that type of contact
Will not ever quite replace
A real-life meeting with a kiss
Or cozy warm embrace.

Still, when holidays approach
It is a saving grace
To have access to technology
Which helps us all touch base.

Touching Base

Sometimes a phone call’s
Just meant to touch base,
A way to let someone
Remember your face…

Conveying a message
“I didn’t forget you.
If that’s your intention
I’m not gonna let you.”

If voicemail picks up,
I just say a quick hi
So the person I’m calling
Knows who and knows why.

I may get an answer
But even if not,
I did what I had to
And gave it a shot.

Reaching Out

If we can’t manage face to face,
There still are ways of touching base.
Email, snail mail, text or phone
Help to make us less alone.

Though, of course, when we reach out,
An answer’s what it’s all about.
When none comes through, we wonder why,
Especially as time goes by.

The end result is we are left
Annoyed, let down or else bereft
Which makes me think those touch-base tools
Are used by masochists or fools.

Grace

Let's touch base with a thing called Grace. Something we no longer embrace, Instead we're trying to replace with this meaningless rat race.

Now Grace you don't have to chase, just retrace, you'll find it's your birthplace.

And it use to be showcased even in the workplace but now it's being erased and replaced with disgrace.

So we must put on a bold face, replace and enlace with Grace until it becomes commom place.

Be an ace join the race to bring back the wonderful face of Grace.
