Summer Junket

There's a man from Nantucket.
That lives in an oak bucket.
He's not very big.
And took just one swig.
Drunk on a summer junket.

Spoke

Spoke less,
did not feel like,
lips refused,
and tongue got tied,
throat was dry,
I gulped a little swig,
then spoke in a veritable gig.

Shred of Truth 3d Limerick

Shred of Truth

If you were me instead
And a life of sin had led
You took one more swig
Then an idiot became big
Of truth did not find a shred.

What Tommy Uncorked

He sure was naive, that Tommy O'Rourke
He didn't know gin was what he'd uncorked
   He took a long swig
   His girl danced a jig
Just nine months 'till the visit from the stork

Restaurant Review

A buxom underclad lady loved cooking,
Everytime when no one was looking,
of the sherry she would liberally swig,
then dance a sublime high kicking jig
Now there's always great demand for a booking!

Beer

swing, my brother
and swig
your liver, brown -
sink your teeth into mine
bermuda grass in my brain
yet again
and the left plank
stands out. again.
here we are, both
shooting arrows blind
or are we just spineless?

A Right Charlie

He made passes at the ladies
Drank much vodka, not just a swig
Lost control of all composure
Which included his crooked wig.

This American Runs On Dunkin'

I put it in my a.m. engine
and pray that it kicks in

By the time I reach my locker
    I'm ready to punch in

My prayers are duly weighed and judged
as they swirl in my canteen

  Helping me to mid-morn break
~ where I'll swig some more caffeine

I'Ve Got a Big Butt and I Cannot Lie

My butt is just so damn big
10 Irish men could do a jig
5 truckers could park their rig
16 Miners could plan a dig
9 drummers could perform a gig
2 Elephants could take a swig
22 college kids could do their trig
If only I’d eat less like a pig!

Just One More

Just one more minute
One more day
All so I could
get in your way

All you want is that
One last swig
One more puff
Just so you'd feel
"Normal" enough

I know that you don't
care what I say
But am I supposed
to leave you this way?
Take that one last swig
I'll walk away
Poison yourself,
All I can do is pray.

Fifth Graders Feet of Today

Their feet are not petite. They are huge.
No hiding or sneaking. No subterfuge.
Fifth graders' feet are as big as boats.
Where is the drink me anecdote?

Clown shoes for them might be too small.
If I had their feet, I would never fall.
Preservatives have bulked them up so big.
Here is be tiny juice, please take a swig.

Exaggerated Egg-Atic Eggy Tale

I popped out of a pink egg carton on a fine Monday morn.
Entered an eggbeater contest, ended tattered and torn.
Drank egg cream, did the most marvelous egg dance.
Started to England and ended up in a chateau in France.
Had a swig of fancy eggnog, Italy is where I landed.
Turned into an exaggerated egg-atic, sneaky, devious, and underhanded.

Anxiety Lesson

Suffering from anxiety and depression
I am tired of this session
I feel I learned my lesson
deep down hurting stressing

always try
I just want to be alive
live life alive
don't want to die

struggle and strife
to make it in this life
have things that are nice
take a swig once maybe twice

tomorrow try to do things right
good night. -TA

Shame Died Today

Consumed by doubt, down but not out
Swig of whiskey tickles the throat
                                      rags for a coat

Down on his luck, surviving on pluck
     Bums another cigarette
                     breaks out in cold sweat

   Begs unabashedly
     points to you and me
     Inside, you shudder
       ~ unashamed, I flee

Darn Autocorrect!

Today, my wife went shopping and in her glee
took her phone and sent a selfie
of her in a beautiful new dress.
She looked quite stunning, I must confess.
She asked “Does this make my butt look big?”
I picked up my beer, took a swig
and texted back “Nooo!”
But my phone went to autocorrect
and changed my word to “Mooo!”
Please send help or I’ll end up black and blue!

Drinking

Drinking

Take a swig
And then another
Keep going ‘til you feel big
And feel like someone other
Than yourself
The world would turn
Watching outside your own self
And your stomach does churn
Making you feel dizzy
And nauseous also
Your stomach feels fizzy
And you vomit, so
Someone takes you away
But not a place known, you don’t want to stay

Salty Walty

Old Salt
Was Walt

Possessed
On chest

Tattoo
Of Lou

Each port
Had snort

Much booze
Blew fuse

Got tight
Had fight

Some beef
With Chief

Unwise
Blacked eyes

Uptight
Lost fight

For prank
Lost rank

For swig*
In brig

*One interpretation of swig is - strike heavily with fist!

Wild Irish Love

May your love for me
always be
as stormy as an Irish sea.
I want no gentle ride
I wish for no small swell,
I've been safely drifting for too long.

May my love for you
always be
as sure as the setting sun.
As steady as a spring rain
a balm to your scorched plain.

You bring the wild,
I'll bring the sweet.
You be my rose,
I'll be your thorn.
I will be the sweet smile
as you swig down what makes you burn.

Presence

I am sitting on a chair.

a chair with the view of
sky, ocean.

a chair that sits on
an open hallway.
that leads to where I
forfeit money for rent

the ocean,
I wonder what's underneath

---

I see more windows
than palm tree's.

the beer makes the
paper warm,
the breeze as it should,

the ocean still,
as the allusion of
time

races.

I sit back,
swig and gaze

I am paused

A New Paradise

Drag me headfirst facing the red lights,

Throw stones that turn to gold dust,

Cruise through a pile of crumbling structures.

The buildings of the past.

Critics drawing out rapier blades,

Their swords casted in flames,

On wheels we swerve the pathway,

Just three junctions away.

A pocket full of sad villains,

A swig of wine to another high,

Standing tall on this grey horizon,

Searching for a new paradise.

Alcoholism

An opened fifth of hangovers rests beside his dried driveled arm (drug used by underachievers.) Out cold, head resting on forearm Unconscious in a dreamless world, a portal often frequented: an alcoholics netherworld and mind most disoriented. A parched throat forces arousal And miasmic exhalations rekindle once more pitiful repeated, inebriation. A morning swig begins his day and ends the same as yesterday.
