Substratum

I am the blackboard
before chalk pictures and words —
after the dust falls

Self as substratum
senses each nuance
as waves on the surface
within the ocean so dance

we refer to ourself as ‘I’
the one we speak to being ‘you’
wherein the ‘you’ feels it is ‘I’
thus all being ‘I’

contemplating on ‘I’ it disappears
all that remains is consciousness
self-existent and full of bliss
being the substratum of being-ness

When we are present we seem free
and when in trance, we appear lost,
yet are not all moments carefree,
witnessing awareness defrost?

As the substratum always still,
weaving our way through dream domains,
our playful heart employs no will
and is yet free from ego’s chains.

the substratum of existence is God
unseen and yet always in the background
so knowing that our perception is flawed
refusing to be in illusions drowned
in vibrant stillness, peace in heart is found
the roots of our being are in heaven
to which we get to through chakras seven

The universe appears and disappears,
depending on wherever our mind goes
but when we’re still, mist of delusion clears
and we see the light wherefrom all life flows,
substratum of existence that endows.
Verily truth is Self and Self alone,
known on ego death; the way we atone.

We find true peace when heart is in repose,
so let us not be by thoughts distracted,
since the truth’s substratum mind never knows,
fooled by illusions on earth refracted,
thus in silence, as fate is enacted,
resplendent in the vibrant light of Self,
bliss peaks and this dream flows on by itself.

Beyond the waking, dreaming and deep sleep states,
is perfect brilliant stillness, as Self aflame,
the light that lights all lights, which never abates,
scriptures call Turiya but give it any name,
once abiding therein, we are not the same,
being the substratum on which all states play,
quintessence of our presence, which does not sway.

Premium Member Ulladu Narpadu verse 13

The substratum of all objects manifest,
is what else but the divine Self absolute?
If we but put stuporous thought forms to rest,
in bliss enlivened silence we then reboot,
acting then no longer at ego’s behest,
eyes for God alone, our will is resolute.
Look not at form but at light of Self within.
God in heart calls us, so we plunge in therein.

The substratum in which all three states appear,
alluding to waking, dreaming and deep sleep,
is where our distilled consciousness we should steer,
beyond mind and senses, in staid silence deep,
where thus watching wayward ego disappear,
light of Self is the harvest, which we so reap.
To fixate awareness on Self is our goal,
the only way for us here now to feel whole.
