Giggles Through Time

Laughter has run
Through the hall ways of time
Has been hushed
Has been shushed
Has not been shunned away
Yes Laughter is a language
Every human can speak
From ancient to the modern
No- laughter won’t cease.

Premium Member Frightening the Jack O Lanterns

Frightening witches are scary, ghost and ghouls are all a wreck.
Horrible gargoyles and vampires will bite your little neck.
My four-year-old nephew shushed me. I thought what the heck?
You are scaring the jack-o-lanterns," He said. “Stop Uncle Beck!"

Premium Member Pirouettes and Whirls

    Spellbound, she thrills
      to pirouettes and whirls

Leaves her seat to dance in the aisle
      the precocious young child

    Shushed to sit down
      her bright eyes droop

O, but for want of a mentor
      with a rainbow sherbet scoop

Unwanted Violin Solo

UNWANTED VIOLIN SOLO

She wrested notes from unwilling
And resisting rosined string.
The rhythm struggled to assert control
Over her strained and anxious soul.

Mother shushed her resisting offspring,
Father struggled with his watch’s mainspring.
Children twisted hair and faces :
All wished to be in other places.

Silky Smooth

The silence shushed the baron
claims slipped through the photo door
imagination or intimidation
the silky fox spreads on the floor

Sticky situation
former lovers of brothels
and whores
tell me what's in store

Eyes closed to the sheepish grin
Blocked off from her sin

Rape me again and make me feel
Nothing else is real

Speak

Unbutton your lips, let your voice sing out.
Stand strong in its music, it is your own.
Shout your convictions, let all hear your tone
Declare
Proclaim
Condemn
Speak up. Speak out. Speak.
Don’t ignore your sisters’ cry
Don’t sit silent while your brothers die
Use your voice as an instrument of change
Do not be shushed, do not be shamed
Silence is not golden, it’s invisible.

Premium Member Squirrels Playing Poker

What game is it? Squishy asked Tough Todd.
Tough Todd gave him a hate look, barely a nod.
It’s Poker! Hissed Nutsy, here is your hand.
Squishy could hear a loud Mariachi band.

Where is that band? He asked and got shushed by seven.
Talk again during the game, and we’ll send you to heaven!
He did not know they were so serious about their cards.
He threw his hand on the table and ran to join the go-lucky bards.

Premium Member Shoeless Shermans Shortsighted Tale

Shameless shady shepherd Sherlock shushed shoeless Sherman
so surely shabby sharp-eyes Sheila shellacked sheep-headed Sherlock
Shaken shallow Sharon shadowed shapely shipwrecked Sheila
Shadow-man shilly-shallied, shifting shopworn Sharon’s sheep
Showy Sharon sharpened a shortened sheath, shaving Sherlock
Sherlock shuttled shell shocked Sherman, showing his Shenanigans
Shoddy Sheila shocked Shelly, shaking sheep into Shangri-La.

Just Before the Rain

I’m happiest when the weather is gloomy and threatening rain. Its tendency, this low pressure, forces most people to remain inside comfortable houses. Outside becomes much quieter assuming a shushed quietus that wouldn’t normally occur if the day were a sunny one; so I pray that this low holds fast concealing the intrusive sun behind the looming overcast while I revel in its stillness and its lugubrious bleakness.

Autumn In Tennessee

October come with its

shades of orange

September ends
Harvest moon

 once again

Soon

Silence in the
Shushed
Smokehouse

  Crackle of a hunters boot

Through the trees
Puffing and pumping

Mixed with clouds of hot air
A fawn and doe chase

The wind lighter

Hillsides shadowed
Red and brown

A gunshot
Echoed in cool grey skies

Burnt to the lungs
Sound of birds

leaving south

In time for tobacco
Dried Blood

Cloudy Morrow

sorrows have been shushed,
tears have been hushed.
In anger and angst clutching the fingers into a fist,
bashing the emptiness at the crossroad of emotions.
 feeling defeated,
at the rotten place, I have befallen.
turning and twisting the roads trodden,
unanswered prayers for kinder plights.
In solitude secluded from the pleasures of little madness.
In blind faith strutting, for that follows.
In to the cloudy morrow,
in to darkness scorched horizon.

Premium Member Where Will They Go

Where will they go, those creatures of the wild; their territory lost through human cause. Confused, they enter private yards; exiled, they're waved or shushed away without a pause. Wealth traded for the end of forest laws, when once those animals with nature sought their happiness in roaming land because this was their home before destroyed and bought for building mega-mansions with no afterthought.
