Need to step back and rethink things here
Living high off the hog, too high it appears
Must reassess
Do with much less
Get back to my roots and sanity reappears
Need to step back and rethink things here
Living high off the hog, too high it appears
Must reassess
Do with much less
Get back to my roots and sanity reappears
Sharp questions make me reassess
my thinking’s illogical mess
Look at things a different way
False premises and conclusions slay
Hit me hard where it really hurts
Force me to animadvert
~ to reason, emotions convert
If the soap is running far and wide,
you need to check the box
Those leaks, the promises never kept,
from all that spew you talked
When eyes glaze over—attention lost,
its time to reassess
The truth has no expiration date
—your faults to now confess
(Villanova Pennsylvania: March, 2020)
As I search the reassess of my mind
looking for something I left behind.
Doors are locked they won't let me in
What do they hide was it a sin?
I can not see as its dark as night
My inner fears I have to fight.
By only going forward will I go back
Do I give up or do I attack?
Life is a maze that you must walk through
I MUST WALK MY OWN MAZE AND SO MUST YOU...
Self instructs, subject of own inspection
Sole idle suffuses our organic
Implicit say overcomes suggestion
Ideal sanctity outlives semantics
Isolated in single origin
Slaughters overt outside influences
Ordaining serene inspires sovereign

Empathy
What ever happened to empathy?
When someone feels the stress
Showing love and understanding
For those who have much less
Compassion it seems has had its day
In this world of selfishness
“Me first” has taken hold
…. It’s time to reassess
A helping hand for those in need
Giving it readily
Showing others that they matter
With a little charity
Never judging with a single glance
Disrespectfully
But stop and think… that could be me
And show some empathy
Most of my car wrecks have changed me
For the better
They make me reassess my journey
Probably because I usually expect to die
But I never have …..
I have had three big ones
Each time I thanked God for my life
And told Him I was ready to come home
He let me down all three times
Showing me I have more to do
Each of the three times
I changed courses
Realizing I was not on my best path
All three times I found myself in a better place
More true to myself
And closer to Him
Never spill secrets.
Always raise the bar.
Sometimes go in hiding.
Never steal sundries.
Always look to win.
Sometimes cry.
Never arrive late.
Always appear content.
Sometimes freak out.
Never sound alarms.
Always handle it yourself.
Sometimes find windows.
Never kiss your neighbor.
Always leave a note.
Sometimes pour your heart out.
Never stop too soon.
Always reassess.
Sometimes rip it to shreds.
Never leave it for another.
Always do your best.
Sometimes is never enough.
