Wye, 2 Konfabulation
Come folk; gather to my proboscis
And hark to my impending psychosis.
Tonight is December thirty-fust,
Something is about to bust.
\The clock is crouching, ready to pounce;
Of pity it'll not give an ounce.
This way comes rapacity, penury.
Duck, here comes another century.
Voracity not veracity mendacity groomer
Capacity for pugnacity is not a rumour
Rapacity of the seedy needy consumer
Sagacity no audacity of the baby boomer
Morality calamity stalks like a greedy puma
Tenacity but with no candour or humour
Opacity because their salacity is a tumour
A wakeful man riding
Constant terminal dusk
Coveting dawns glow
Conqueror of rapacity
Constructing his empire
Of gold and silvers avarice
Feigning his thrill of life
So spuriously rehearsed
In his eyes they are trivialities
Only now he sees the truth
In the darkness of his sepulcher
Surrounded by his useless wealth
O Death, how can I not resent it that
Your dire rapacity admits no bounds?
With no appeal… unmoved, an autocrat
Whose cruelty every human ill compounds,
And in the end all final hope confounds.
That you must come for me upsets me less
Than something much the harder to address:
For every friend and loved-one that you take,
My grief is all too potent to express,
And far too adamant to ever shake.
