The Darkness At Noon
As the moon passes over the sun
the earth to darkness is plunged
in olden times people were in fear
thinking this is the world's end
Pitch blackness covers the earth
day and night are now reversed
no bird songs now can be heard
just an ominously deep silence
slowly so slowly the light returns
a collective sigh of relief from all
today is not yet the world's end
just an eclipse of startling magnitude

Incandescence
From the pitch-blackness of the night
city lights glow like yellow stars
gorging dollops of dark matter
from an artificial universe.
Where luminescence disappears
then reappears differently
in magnitude and location
Each having their own tales to tell
both real and imaginary.
Dawn arrives and they fade from view
their nightly relevance worthless
in a world of bright beginnings
until diurnal hours wind down
and their brilliance shine once again....

Full Darkness, No Stars
You walk outside and are struck
by the velvety blackness
you recall with bitterness
the night bringing that black buck
Yes he wooed her away
carried her off in darkness
no stars just a pitch blackness
in his bower with her lay
It was full darkness, no stars
my heart filled with bleakness
body shaking with coldness
trapped inside these steel bars
Beware the angel of dark
do not approach in blindness
take care to see it's grossness
be touched not by it's mark...
