You can teach an old Dog a new trick
But
The Dog will do its old tricks more
Because
It knows them better

Nine Months
Not nine and a half
Still hurting
Broken heart
Nine Weeks
Not nine and a half
Too old for that
Too old by half
Nine Days
Not nine and a half
Still counting
I know it's daft
Nine Minutes
Not nine and a half
Tears flowed
To, fro and aft
Nine seconds
Not nine and a half
Writing these words
And now its past.
Have you ever opened the door
And never returned
Knowing well the dream spirit driver
Rotatingly roundly into the quantitvative cycle
The system of modern behavior
Of catching love with old love
Disguising new devices as old tricks
So you can make your dad laugh
Lunacy learns love
as well as it eats itself
Same as love love and as love
Form:
No one else would notice
The little things he saw
An old letter
Or the romance books
He refused to throw away
It was these things
Kept as reminders
To an old heart
From a young time
Sort of like waking up
On a frosty
Snow filled morning
You don’t have to see them
To know they were here
Just look on the ground
And see the deer prints
In the snow
When I see my old lover
the grasshoppers on her cheeks
were unseen.
Her eyes became the
tomb of lost dreams.
Her stomach was like a
paddy field after the harvest
Her heart was like a
panting balloon.
Her body was like a
over ripe banana fruit.
When I see my old lover
the saffron sky on her face
had vanished.
And it has spread on
the cheeks of her
daughter.
My old love’s gone, and now a new love’s here
although with that old love she can’t compete!
She’s silver smooth from front - to tiny rear;
More practical than my old love, yet sweet!
And like my old love, she is always near.
She’s not as sporty, but she’s just as fleet.
And though I miss my honey “ragtop” girl,
I take my new love “Kia” for a whirl!

Theme: New Love
GLOVE LOVE
Their old teacher sitting waiting,
Twenty kids come in the classroom:
Most dash past to the computer or playtoys.
A skeletal six year old girl,
Neglected-looking, with glasses,
Throws arms around his neck
And slips on to his knee.
His big gnarled hands
Fold over her,
Fitting cosily as a glove
And her tiny bony hands
Rest easy on his knuckles.
No words are spoken;
But it’s a good morning.
Madame, thou art mature and must I say...
Thy wine is old and pleasing to the taste
The love you give to me no one could weigh
Yet eyes eavesdrop on evenings we embrace
Your years above my age is their distaste
For you came like a cougar in the night
Desires upon my flesh you did delight
After our lips would play and kiss with tongue
We lay in love and looking in the light
You would say I was old and she was young

COUGAR EFFECT
On the space through and through
Drop the leaves from the trees
Persimmons burn through the fall
Like small fires of love.
My heart you old friend
Why are you melting sadly?
All born things pass away
There is an end for every start.
From the grass, plush of earth
Through the stars deep in sky
Nothing can be eternal
There is a day for it to die.
Only love last forever
The asset of every one
My heart, o my old friend
Don’t live me without love.

Are you telling yourself
It’s all you’ll ever need
All you ever wanted
The stuff of your dreams
Are you lying to yourself
Just to get through the night
Then the day comes
And things aren’t right
Are you thinking to yourself
Where did I go wrong
Same old ending
To the same old song
Are you saying to yourself
I’m tired of this charade
There’s nothing I’ve got
And a soul I’ve paid
Are you asking yourself
How do I get back
How did I ever
Get so far off track
