One day I tried to write a sonnet

For hours and hours I thought upon it

I swear I'm not joking

My head started smoking

And firemen turned their hoses on it...

The Color Yellow
Dandelions, butter, roses.
Sight of circus bright clown noses.
Plane where tawny lion dozes.
Shades displaying,
sunny days with sprinkling hoses.
Children playing....

Playing With Matches

   We wired kids drank coffee
   in Kroger's and stoled fire
   and cigarettes. We were free.
   Hoses doused a funeral pyre.
   We kissed girls felt fears
   something like young desire,
   warmth we'd chase for years....

Premium Member The Children and I Face Summer
climbing
running

laughing
sunning

hoses
spraying

outside,
staying

till past
sunset

Happy?
You bet!

~~~~~~~
summer
swelter
seeking
shelter
fanning
sweating
sighing
fretting
turn up
AC
now I’m
happy
Shy
Brushing
Air kisses
And water hoses
Misting
Never wetting
Soaking the skin
Blushing
Near misses
And questioning poses
Timid
Incomplete setting
Working without the win
Rush the lush
Outside
And hide the sensitive
Under the bed
So close and yet so for
Always a little......
Red Like Roses
Red like roses
Running like water from hoses
Whoever walks in next is in for a thriller
It looks like someone was visited by the Zodiac Killer
They may strike at anytime
And soon turn any room into the scene of a crime
In the spring and summer they attack more frequent
It occurs so often, it’s nearly sequent
Red like roses
God, I hate bloody noses...
Moving hoses
           Of flowing,
                   Flowering,
                             Movement.
Running in rills to troughs of sand,
Pressing passages through the stones.
Pools well with
         gurgles
                  splashes,
Thundering falls with mist skirts
            of pearls strung
                     on summer breezes....
Vacumns and Garden hoses
What can I say ….?
Well, they are the bane of my life
With their temperamental ways
Both are stubborn with a mind of their own
Needing to control the situation
They both catch, kink and “just”stop
Heightening annoyance and frustration
No matter how hard i try
Without success or luck
To not let irritation get the better of me
Preventing me yelling out F**k !!...
Those Poems, That Fire
Those Poems, That Fire
I stood in the alley, still
in pajamas, somebody’s shoes,
another man’s coat, my eyes
on the bronc of the hoses.
Squawed in the blankets of neighbors,
my wife and three children sipped
chocolate, stood orange and still.
Of the hundred or more I had stored
in a drawer, I could remember,
comma for comma, no more than four,
none of them final,
all of them fetal.
Boquet of Bartered Love
One dozen dead roses
A pocket full of red disposes
Fidelity, fealty their temporal wrapper encloses
Organic ode that nature's bipolar rhythm transposes
Trite requiem to all the brownnoses
A token gift that penurious love exposes
Gone are the scintillating wax poses
The mirth, pageantry time hoses
Buried in the cemetary with Grandma Moses
Bring back the artificial supposes
To satiate all of the charming virtuosas...
Fire Call
Tones blare
Heart pounds
Prayers sent
Station bound
Turnouts on
Nomax too
Helmet, gloves
And rubber boots
18-15
That is me
Sirens sing
Engine gleams
Airpack on
Arrive on scene
Cars on fire
Patients scream
Hoses pulled
Scene assessed
Flames put out
Jaws of life spread
Patient care
EMS on scene
Life-flight inbound
Punctured spleen
Patient gone
Hospital bound
Head back home
Til next time around
Premium Member Inflatable Christmas
Christmas lights on almost every house
And in the yard, a newer sight
Santas, Snowmen, and Penguins too
Bouncing about, as if to take flight
Tethered by air hoses and plastic spikes
They strain and dance in their plight
But in the morning they lay in a heap
Not such a cheerful or uplifting sight
Christmas cheer comes again at dark
A tribute to some decorating fun
Magical creatures again sit upright
Alive again until dawn has come...
Yellow Mud
Pollen scuds in swarms and settles,
As the winds blow and calm,
From bees, trees and flower petals;
I feel within my palm
Upon autos, hoses and window sills
The signs of Springtime-
Birds on branches, fish in creels,
Sunshine and a bell's chime.
Yet, the groundhog sees his shadow
As the overcast begins to pour.
The rain streams not so shallow;
I see outside my door
Water to the end of my driveway;
Pollen within the flood
Clumps at the edge of grass and clay
And congeals into yellow mud....
No Goal
Men and their hoses
they just cant control
to aim the piss
inside the big white hole
Women wouldn't mind
there wouldn't be an issue
if they just bother to stretch over
and grab a bit of tissue
It's all about your game
it's like scoring a goal
The football is your piss
the goal is your bowl
Concentrate, focus
keep your eye on the net
line it up right
and the seat won't get wet
Well done men..
SCCOORRREEE!!!
Theres nothing on the seat
but what's that on the floor....
Peaches In the Desert?
Of all things to try
Oh heck, why not
An orchard in the desert
Is what we've got.
A coupla years ago
We bought some land
Bulldozed it free of sagebrush
Dug 100 holes by hand
A tub of water
On a tower high
Was how we watered
Hoses spread wide
Planted more trees
Pumped water from a canal
Laying more hoses
Buying another trowl
900 trees and growing
An orchard in the desert heat
This is where we'll retire
Tree ripened peaches to sell and eat.
So proud of my parents....
