Been to rose-gardens
And the fairground too
Aquarium a few times
And to the zoo
Duck boats n mini golf
Science and art
Museums
Sausage with all
The fixings
Its what’s given
To see the world
We’re in does
Not exist...

An Intervention
Chicken on dry sliced rye,
at his neat
office workstation,
no garnish.

Suddenly she was there,
her chair roller wheels
squeaking.

"Next time get a 'footlong' sub
with Mayo and all the fixings.
We could share it."

'Messy' he murmured,
studying his monitor.

A sigh,
as the office angel rose upward
on chubby wings....

Premium Member She Was a Story Teller
She was a woman full of stories.
They oozed out of her and onto her skirts.
When she shook them, verbs and adjectives flew onto the floor.
I watched them congregate around her ankles
Forming run-on sentences.
No wonder story-telling is so easy to her
She doesn’t even need a muse
She has all the fixings at her fingertips and her toes...

One Autumn Night
This autumn night we'll have a harvest fest
With all the fixings it will be quite grand
The pie eating contest now starts things off
As each will eat until they win or drop
But it will end with the three legged race
The winning duo won by just a leg
While the harvest moon now shines so heavenly

Blank verse has an iambic pentameter but no rhyme...

It is a great American dish from the South.
It tastes great once it gets into your mouth.
Very high on the popularity scale it rates.
People now eat it in all fifty states.
You need a small chicken weighing about a kilo.
Cut it up in pieces, and toss it in flour just so.
A few herbs and spices will improve the taste.
Fry it up in hot oil until crispy with haste.
The pieces look a nice dark brown when done.
Serve it up with some fixings, and the battle is won....

Thankful
The bird has reached the oven
the fixings now prepared
it's the start of something special
my love has infused the air

The sun has brought forth beauty
there's a rhythm to the breeze
I stare out in the wonder
to eyes, profound appease

I'm thankful for her friendship
and thankful for her care
I'm thankful for our journeys
and for all the things we share

Soon we all shall gather
and pass around this love
I'll save a little stuffing
to feed my morning dove...
