Jousting With Ghosts
A macabre dance
with whatever
the subconscious
drags into my dreams
scuttling my already
fitful sleep....

Who
who is this shadow
who haunts my fitful sleep?
who renders me awake at night
and brings my heart to weep...

who is this forsaken
who's exiled from my life?
who bears bitter memories
creates nothing but strife...

Angel of the Night
black sky chill runs to the bone
as I shudder from the pain
fitful sleep in bed alone
a face without a name

a vision soft in morning's light
the memory soon forsaken
the one I want to hold so tight
is gone when I awaken....

Four dead Jesuits,
now confirmed as child
molesters, but when alive
these monsters’ crimes,
were covered in
obfuscation.

And when they passed,
were the Last Rites recited
and are they buried
in sanctified grounds?

May their rest be as
unrestful as their
victims lives and
and the fitful sleep
of their confessors....

April, you fetch flowers of spring to rise;
Lacing in verdant green and fruit to reap.
Gardens seed bloom, whist bees and butterflies
Saunter by tippling passion nectar deep.
Renew daytime length increase leaden skies
Whist nighttime length decreasing; fitful sleep.

Encephalomyelitis Disseminata
It is wrong to remember her as she once was
and only then register how she now is,
For she is now as she is now,
She is not what she has become.

By day, we walk slowly through the crowds
Guided by her stick
Taking time in the world,
Letting its forms take shape.

But at night I lie long awake,
Or fall into a fitful sleep
Rent by the teeth of fear, thinking:
She is, but soon may no longer be....

Autumn dusk comes early here,
Sunset dives in shades of grey;
Watch distant peaks disappear,
Nightfall comes as chill relays.

Feel the cold air on skin edge,
Ripples of a shiver sum;
Rush into the house dear age,
Watch warm wellness that becomes.

Hear the distant echoes call:
What's the wonder in dusk deep?
Do stray voices now install?
Fling fond dreams in fitful sleep!

Wordsworth
You have engraved my heart
with the nib of your pen dipped in ink
I never would be one to don a tattoo
but you colored me up before I stopped to think
Irregular beating and vascular crunch
slipped over beautiful walls
Adrenaline master, a natural disaster
responding to each of your calls
Whisper my name in your most fitful sleep
eyes twitching, light of the moon
My heart will respond yet in kind to your voice
with a beating of words to resume....

Premium Member Nightly Prayer of Love
I bequeath to my heart none else then pure love
and in the meantime all that is me around me and inside me
I entrust to my Father in heaven;
Each and every thought I think, all feelings I insip
I bring forth to the alter of His mercy;
I pray for strength and understanding, by the settle of my night
May He send forth His Angels of consort
and help me to attain a fitful sleep
as I breathe slowly and deeply, into the arms of love .
Amen!...

The Old Man
They visit him every night
Ghostly apparitions without fright
For he knew each and every one
Talking together until the night was done

And so he sleeps through the day
In fitful sleep until the sun slips away
They return when the moon rides high
To recount their stories of days gone by

The final night came when a storm blew
As thunder and lightning split the sky in two
His final wish was granted then
When she appeared to him at the end.
