A tiny little butterfly
flutters by,
I can see a twinkle 
in it's eye.

He flutters away
then back again,
All the while I wonder
where he's been.

His fluttering wings
tease me so.
Then he lands gently
On my nose.

His little feelers
tickle my cheecks.
I wonder what 
This little guy seeks.

This encounter 
I can't dismiss.
I think it was
a butterfly kiss....

of a stone birdbath,
its orange feelers  curl 
outward  like tiny
 telegraph coils - transmit schisms 
I witness the microscopic
lapping  of an insect

Not a dragonfly
perhaps a wasp,
 abdomen pumping

 A seed falls, a flash of light 
 it  disappears upon a 
nearby twig leaving

I sense the cloud that is over her head
It is gray, gloomy, full of grouse and gripes

She does not have to open her mouth
for me to recognize it is there
a storm ready to burst open

flooding the room with negativity
trying to flush away all laughter and mirth
I run from the room the second I see her

flight or fight popping in and out of my brain

Out from under the fridge

Is feeling a cold pain in my fingers
And a hot pain in the small of my back

Tastes like an aluminium spoon
And smells like a damp rotting floor mop
