Art Show
Celestial gifts these memories we’ve stored
Slow walks on wave-caressed and sun-warmed sand
As crimson, umber, mauve cascades are poured
Extravagantly all across the land -
An art show best encountered hand in hand....

Butterflies
Like floating petals
Of colorful flowers
They enter my room
And hover around
As if they own it.
Observing their flamboyant wings
I often wonder
Why should Nature be so
Extravagantly gaudy
In flaunting beauty?...

Inheritance
To your selfish, spendthrift posterity
bequeath them not so much as a penny.
Lavish it on yourself and extravagantly
then secretly file for bankruptcy.
And, if you’re really smart, pray fervently
your life is shortened prematurely –
why wait to die at hands without mercy?

I Am Silent
I am Silent
Like a wolf stalking his prey
The white snow falls vibrant,
as the trees sleep at midnight
I intensely watch the prey saunter away

The chase is like a carousal.
My comfort comes from the round, full moon.
I prance extravagantly as if i had wings....

A Secret Life
A secret life! What would it be
were I to choose this life for me?
Would I drive a great car?
Be the wife of a star?
Could I live extravagantly?
How could anyone live that way
and not give the secret away?
So I guess I’d retire
to some beach I’d acquire,
living easy where palm trees sway.

Limerick
Wishes, Champagne and Happiness
Hands holding champagne
Allowing all wishes to sparkle
People dancing under Mylar balloons
Pop corn with sweet caramel
Yankees caps with silver trim
Nobody dislikes silly buffoons
Everyone can be one of them
With the New Year's party colorful hats
Yell and be extravagantly festive
Ears deafened by loud music
America celebrates in Times Square
Rome calls for peace everywhere
Entered in Carol Brown's Happy New Year Poetry Contest

Try To Catch the Light
It soars, a winged beast dripping with
tender nectar – life,
Whole of sky nurtured with every
beat, the beat, the beat…
Impossibility etched in every span
and the remaining?
Impossibility to catch –
catch such life.
He’d still try, grim mannered
surely? No grace in his hack
attack.
Smacking the essence with feisty might
more extravagantly than a child’s plight
to see what might diminish this light.
Spark, glimmer on water.
Gleaming glances of colour
bouncing of a smile.
Life....
