Premium Member Scenty Ent

A sentient scenty Ent,
    Treebeard, I feared, but it’s weird:
        I smelled him before I beheld him….

Nhs Cut Backs 4

The NHS has plans to save money
Which ENT consultants won’t follow
They won’t hear of budget cuts
They think the plans quite shallow
Which have got up there noses
And they find them hard to swallow

Gladly Sent

L-et your friends gladly send
I-nspiring words of regard;
Z-ealously receive them,
A-lthough the net is weak or hard.

C-herish the good greeting,
O-nce you see the sun's ascent;
D-irectly to your wall,
E-very wish is gladly
S-ent.

Black Roses

(First published in The Ravi 2015)
I flee the jaws of Time's story
As they snip me apart twig by twig
Black Roses nesting
In the flesh that was broken
Sand sweeps in, questing
Eternity's whittling me down to a sprig
An Enting lost in a paper factory

She wraps five stair steps tight in arm;
tears now dried by winds of war.
Rent in twain; two now one.
Each child feels her might,
not as the oak.
Great is strength
that has
heart.

As My Acrostic Is Sent

E-arly Tuesday morning
D-enies the lonely night;
E-ver warm seventeenth January
M-akes the day alright.
E-very drop of the cold rain
E-vades the lovely sunrise;
L-et the flowers attract the bees and the butterflies.

R-ivers are softly running,
O-ceans are calm and silent;
X-factor is the fine weather,
A-s my acrostic is
S-ent.

With a Birthday As a Topic

S-unlight shines to share
E-leventh January morning.
E-vening shadows have faded, mist and haze disappear;
M-erry mood of the moment adds another fruitful year.

H-appy songs are played on the air;
E-veryone is singing and wishing,
R-emembering the eventful affair.
I-t's one thing I don't want to lose, as I've penned an acrostic;
F-rom the heart these words come, with a birthday as a topic.
