I do not know?
You assume I am happy
at the mall, at the beauty parlor,
at the cocktail afternoons with the girls.
Look in your wallet.
The plastic cards
don't say, "I Love You!"

Beneath the down of evening tide awake without much rest
I listen to the sounds of silence, ticks, and wind and then
prayers are said, guardians called and blessed sleep's divested.

I Am Finally Nothing,
And I like that just Fine.
I've Divested All.
It's took Quite a While.
Back in the Sunshine,
With Freedom of Mind.
I am Finally Nothing,
I Will Reside, A Long Time.

Mesmerized by his own success,
swimming naked and alone in the dark
Drowning in what he forever professed,
he rose and fell with each critic’s remark
Hypnotized while diving for fame,
he sank while caught in the tide
His pleadings washed up, divested and bare,
exposed—with nowhere to hide

It seems a deceit of the light,
in the day the Queen of the night,
she sits as in a dream untrue,
drowning slowly in the blue.
Gently moves toward the east
to sip where sun has gorged its feast,
her deep black robe with shining gems
divested out of her true realm.
Now lost within the azure skies
with pale lit face she naked flies
to rob the sun and give day flight,
open the doorway into night.
