Icy Tanka (rewritten)
Stars on the night sky
Are icicles on the roof
In a deep freezer
That has not been defrosted
For an awfully long time
In lonesome bouquet laced with lilt of love
lies embedded the frozen fragrance
of remote reminiscence,
enticing the defrosted solitary soul
to reflect someday the sunshine
in faded memory motif folded in warm embrace.
You sold my soul
That was sick
Frozen with the snow
God
Had my soul

Forest trees are defrosted
by rains -
they look as though they
were frozen through time,
only to wait for spring
to boast their greenness.
As the hands of time move,
the trees protect birds,
chipmunks, and lovers
from the burning sun.
Later,
with no shade to give,
and no burning sun,
the trees begin to shed
their leaves,
creating a natural carpet
all around them.
Naked and wary,
they wait for winter to mummify them....
