A girl sat sewing beside a clock
Busy darning a holey sock
The needle pierced her fingers and thumb
And sewed them together one by one
The poor girl suffered so much pain
She never sewed anything again...

Beatrice
Beatrice
lives down the block
she
likes her porch
she has a big
darning basket
with socks
and yarn
Beatrice
lives in that rocking chair
I swear
back and forth
when we run by to the store
for popsicles
she never gets one...

Death Comes Calling
When Death Calls

Death comes calling in the early morning
No one is at home
They have all gone fishing
Personally, I prefer doing the dishes
Cleaning the litter box
Darning sox
Those darn socks
I prefer doing that than being damned and dead
When death comes calling...

Darning Socks and Things
I used to watch my mother
At night darning socks and things
And doing those chores she did
By the light of our black and white

Those days turned over slowly
With such domestic things
And now it seems to me
Darning and such things are not done.

If It Ain'T Worth Remembering
Patches on the quilt of life,
letters sew not rend

Memory darning time to time,
future warmth depends

Words left tattered, words that bind,
 ragged breath portends

To stitch it once and have it last
—tomorrow on the mend

What You Felt In That Moment
deeper-day-dreaming.

was he not a confident lover?

disheveled-darning-dominant.

confidence is not letting what may be disheveled in you get so deep that it dominates

so by day, be daring.

dream.

he transformed into all she needed.

he was all she needed.

cliched or not, it all happened for them overnight.

he made his great-grandparents proud

after explaining "what you felt in that moment"...

Eclipse
raisins in the sun;
black men run
snowflakes in june
fall from the sky
and dismally we cry
for the moon
has frozen itself
the glare of cold stars
burns our souls;
the clouds are weeping.
old mother nature is senile.
she sits darning holes
that have worn in the ages
while
eternity is slipping
into oblivion
as a black sun is dripping
(or maybe it's crying)
dark blobs upon the pages
of the book of life
and her children
are dying......

Dining Needle
When I was young, a dining needle
Was the term we used
To name a flying insect, but
Turns out we were confused.

For darning needle is another
Phrase for dragonfly.
If you see one up close, then you
Will know the reason why.

Its thin and tapered body looks
Like what we’d use to sew,
But “darning” is a word that many
People do not know.

And so a word misheard became
A means of us defining
The dragonfly, which we assumed
Was out to do some dining....

Spotted
A teapot clapping is a fish bowl clucking and an irrespective thought can be as cloudy as a drop of ink on a page. Beware the trotting dusty bowl on trusted legs. Moving. Daring darning dancing dogs. And a monumental beak ironing. Oh well movies moaning. Meaning an explosion of fish darting around in the sky. Livingstone line linking lavishness. And a thrown fork is not a heifer toe nor is it a pointed leaf. Hahaha milking an egg. Hahaha ministerial mincemeat. Xxxxx aero sciences Z z z z...
