Judging Shakespeare
Classification and education are not inspiration
To classify or correct a poem does not make poetry
Who of you are able to Judge Shakespeare
If you cannot judge the best how can you judge the least
If Shakespeare were here today he would receive an N/A...

Don't worry about
classification,
We're all born as new stars.
Watch us brandish our
emotions.
Watch us mend a broken wing.
Watch us watch a cradle
rocking.
Classification nudges us to put
frames on things.
The universe has no frame,
Constantly reaching outward....

Saigon Cinnamon
You are something
Beyond classification or description.
Something sensory.
Something
Warm, sweet,
Rich, dark,
Smoke and fire,
Softened spice,
Sugared rust,
Dusted copper,
Wood, bark,
Like you grew from the ground
Or were mined from the red earth.
Just like Saigon Cinnamon....

To Have No Name
Liberation from the strongest of bonds
From judgment
From classification
From belonging
To exist for the purpose of existence

The echoing voices, a hymn of dependence
Silent

To exist through actions alone
With no mark
No stain
No expectation

To move the world
Then be forgotten
To move the heart
And be remembered

In silence
Nameless
Eternal
Free...

Not Specific This God
Not specific this God beyond understanding
Said Elihu to Job long ago.
Outstretches all classification,
Not bound by identity one or another,
Bigger than any holy publication,
God above definition of those who made God
Pleasing to themselves, that is,
A gender-ascribed Bronze Age tribal god of war
Unable to deliver from foreign control who
Now saves only souls who believe such a thing....

Butterflies In My Mind
So many thoughts lurk within,
And soar like butterflies in my mind.
I try drastically to classify them all,
For everyone to appreciate their kind.

The blank paper is the net,
That catches all these thoughts.
Then the classification process begins,
And poetry is made from these thoughts.

I articulate my experiences,
For all to gain from my existence.
So when butterflies cross my mind,
I grab the net and catch them that instant....

The Thin Line
We classify many things as good.
We may classify them as bad.
They may be classified as neither.
Or classified as both.

Life is said to be seen in black.
Seen in white.
Sometimes grey.
Or no color at all.

But sometimes there is no classification.
Only the thin line in between.
Or not at all.

Because some things are so out of the context of our understanding.
That they are none of the four.

Not good.
Not bad.
Not both.
And never neither....
