Pompoms
October game
America’s football
An extension of cheerleaders
Happily, gleefully thrown into air
Captivating the crowd’s magic
These fluttering streamers
Landing in piles
Pompoms

Mrs. Marvel wore sweatshirt for twenty-eight years until her final breath.
Signed by her 8th grade students, four whom had died a tragic death.
Killed in a tragic bus accident on the way to a state cheerleading rally.
They met her at the pearly gates – Linda, Cherry, Patrice and Molly McNally.

You'Re Ready

I know that you are ready,
I know that you can win,
THe other kids cannot belive,
What awesome shape you're in,
Our training has been difficult,
But you have met the test,
You maybe just a rookie,
But you're out to beat the best,
Competitors are slowing now,
And many are conceding,
It's time they crowned the latest queen,
Of JV cheerleading!

Hey! Not now, I'll let you know when.
   Listen, I appreciate the cheerleading,
But I can't do much when I'm tired,
So allow me to crash on my comfy sofa
And sleep; wake me in an hour or so...
                With my second wind.

Early Autumn

The calendar foretells summer but the trees, fauna and I know that Autumn is now upon us in spite of the Gregorian. Deciduous trees are shedding their kaleidoscopic, colored dead on the earthen ground below; and decaying scents fill the air, nostrils, the mind with reverie of indelible yesteryears. Squirrels burying recent finds, cheerleading and football practice Unmistakable, autumnal, recurring signs of its presence.

Extending the benefit of the doubt
Means well at all times, looks for the positives
Peacemaking through careful listening; being upbeat
An effort to always work toward the greater good
Trustworthy, honest, open, selfless, caring,
Helping others to find their best self
Enthusiastic cheerleading for others
True caring for friends, relatives, and strangers on the street
Imaginative ways to uplift and inspire others
Clearly shows a love for fellow humans and animals in every action
