I Am Surprise

I am chauffeured by dawn into the unknown,
I open the door and see the uninvited,
I can barely comprehend what I am shown,
I am not at all delighted,
I am in a dim zone.

In her estate in the hills lives prim Madame Chic
Who’s chauffeured way down into town every week
She tells the homeless to wash
Oh, you’ll never be posh!
You should bathe everyday like my poodle Monique!

Strangers

Gloom in his chamber
Turbulence in the conundrum
None of these he invited
None of these he beckoned
They made their way to him
Dawn chauffeured them

Unhindered Movement

On the other side,
Beyond this view,
We're chauffeured unhindered,
Light and unsaddled,
Unloaded and unrestrained,
We're not framed for this side only.

Pinnacle

I want to be wrapped in nature's hue,
Lost in its splendour,
Embraced by its candour,
I'm feeling blue,
I'm being misconstrued,
My world is latent to them,
They can't come into my realm,
I'm ascending the pinnacle,
I'm chauffeured to the miracle.
I'll smash through every obstacle.

The Ringing R

By no mistake my name is Richard
And I am chauffeured in a rickshaw
A rickshaw that comes first in a row
With others that roll on shining rims
As I desire to get to the riches

My way to the riches is a riddle
But I will straighten up the rickets
And scoop the material that is raw
And then shake it until it is ripe
And then become that real rich Richard

Phenomenal Woman

Dutiful
Dawn invigorates her hands
Diligent
She's chauffeured by her goals
Daring
She doesn’t rest on her oars

A woman who has sojourned
Conquered and returned
Cloaked by midnight
She battled fiercely and prevailed

She watches over her house
She retires to her chamber to ponder on the day
Aged but not caged
Slowed but not stopped.

Unwritten Absence

We left the light,
We sojourned in the night,
We journeyed in the dark,
The night held sway.

It was so long a night,
It was so prolonged a fight,
We traversed shrivelled meadows,
Followed by our shadows.

An absence of light,
Wearied our hearts,
An unwritten absence,
Chauffeured a gloomy presence.

We saw light afar,
As we moved closer,
It dimmed and died,
Like a falling star.

Just a stone's throw away
from where I lie in despair,
my car, a grieving shade of gray
once chauffeured a pair.

Now I flop upon this stone,
aptly inscribed with her name,*
eager for each aching bone
to surrender the same.

Enclosed by silent stone rows,
years ago unfolding speech
countless hearts like stone froze,
stone angels' comforts out of reach.

*Shantelle means "stone."

Just Before Release

It's a pathway,
Activities in our hands,
Duties permuted by us,
We shuffle and rearrange.

It’s a leeway,
Sometimes beyond us,
We're chauffeured through,
The result is seen.

The day is like a portrait,
Twilight is through with its session,
Dawn comes to the fore for its,
We struggle to make changes.

The day is like a journey,
Dawn sets our feet on the way,
Twilight brings us to the end,
We can rescript the lines.

Chauffeur

She strode from her apartment door
Right to a chauffeured car
In workout clothes, so I suppose
She wasn’t going far.

The lifestyles of the rich, I guess,
Are not like mine or yours.
The luxury of what might be
Is more than opened doors.

It constitutes a life of ease
Where ordinary stress
Just disappears and with it, fears
The rest of us possess.

It doesn’t mean they’re happier,
Despite their lavish means;
But how I’d thrive with one to drive
As I plied my routines!

In the Boat That We Dwell

She's deeply asleep,
I'm awake,
As if something is at stake,
It’s the hands of the night.

The night calls me from my slumber,
There's a tranquil flow in my chamber,
I traverse the night's highway,
I'm chauffeured by the unseen.

I go through a gate,
There's not much of a wait,
I'm haloed by a light,
I see the book.

My thoughts are permuted,
My mind pierces through the gloom,
She's in the slumber room,
We're worlds apart.
