Unwritten Absence

We left the light,
We sojourned in the night,
We journeyed in the dark,
The night held sway.

It was so long a night,
It was so prolonged a fight,
We traversed shrivelled meadows,
Followed by our shadows.

An absence of light,
Wearied our hearts,
An unwritten absence,
Chauffeured a gloomy presence.

We saw light afar,
As we moved closer,
It dimmed and died,
Like a falling star.

That last line stood out for me the most! So well written in a moving and catchy cadence that readers would truly enjoy and appreciate reading! Love this! Thank you for writing and congratulations on winning
